The Media made it a big deal because he was on Probation from his Oxycontin Drug issue.
I do remember the Limbaugh drug scandal. But he was not running for president; so apples and oranges. We are in for a bumpy ride as the scandal-diggers get crazed over the next year or so. Our candidate is strong because he has learned to say, “Yeah. So?” about his personal pecadillos. Politicians usually lie, cover up and deny the personal sins.
A man who bragged publicly about his serial adultery and who has also stated that has never found the need to ask God’s forgiveness is clearly unrepentant (and very scary in my book).
Character does matter in a leader, and I don’t think much of his.
That is your right, and I support you in incorporating your view of past unfaithfulness into your selection of a candidate.
What has bothered me is that some of those for whom the adultery issue is a non-starter are also using language to state absolutely that he is still behaviing this way, available evidence to the contrary.
If, in fact, he has been faithful to Melania for the past 18 years as it now appears, those kinds of claims are essentially lies and libelous.
In our eagerness to uphold conservative political standards and true Christian witness, we must also hold our own “tongues” to account. God will judge his past behavior. Without credible evidence, we cannot show a lack of forgiveness or claim to know without doubt that he has not privately repented, and still call ourselves righteous Christians.
