In a moment of curious serendipity, a little over 90 minutes after we showed what a dystopian, centrally-planned, cashless society unleashed in a negative interest rate world would look like ("by forcing people and companies to convert their paper money into bank deposits, the hope is that they can be persuaded (coerced?) to spend that money rather than save it because those deposits will carry considerable costs"), and briefly after we laid out the countless recent warnings from "very serious people" that cash is evil and should be banned:
1. Norway's Biggest Bank Demands Cash Ban 2. Bank Of England Economist Calls For Cash Ban, Urges Negative Rates 3. Citigroup's Gold "Expert" Demands A Cash Ban 4. Leading German Keynesian Economist Calls For Cash Ban
... while warning to await a full-on coopted media assault about the dangers of cash "which is an anacrhonysm from a bygone era, and that the world will be so much better if only everyone dutifully exchanges the physical currency in their pocket for digital, traceable, and deletable 1s and 0s", none other than Bloomberg issued an editorial Op-Ed in which it had one simple message: "Bring On the Cashless Future."
For those who were amused by our warning that a cashless world may be coming, here is precisely why the warning was issued, in Bloomberg's digital ink:

But you know the Establishment wants this as badly as Zero-Care and Amnesty. Bloomberg just the bold one on it right now.

One only needs to see the last 100 yrs to know where this is going:
The original confiscation of TRUE money by the 1st tyrant of the 20th century, Roosevelt. How the Citizens of that time didn’t rise up...
Then the slow switch from TRUE money backed paper to fiat paper (US Notes vs. Fed Reserve Notes)
Then the final collapse: Taken-off of the gold standard
These days, we have talk to retirement fund confiscation (ala Argentina), now ‘digital’ currency (ala Greece).

Unless you keep the private keys somewhere else. You are correct that they do not want a worldwide distributed ledger because they cannot control that. Your private keys pointing to your value in that ledger can be hidden in a variety of ways, digitally.

And they all are going into brazen, in your face mode
because their masters have apparently decided that this is the stretch run.
I’ve actually switched to cash on most everything.
I applied for life insurance and they had records from visa (debit card, mind you)/shopping rewards cards of purchases I’ve made — specifically nicorrette, which I switched to after dipping.
They want digital currency as a means of control.
They want it mandatory to control you.
They will ration what you buy, when you buy it.
They are forcing a lot of businesses (e.g., gun stores) to be “non-banked” because they are not PC.
They will keep records of what you buy and use it against you.
They will shut off your money when they determine you are an enemy of Obama (or whomever is in power).
I do everything in cash except utilities and giant purchases like cars (and still pay cash there, but use electronic funds).
OT-never been on one either. Too paranoid about things like diseases and rogue waves, lol.
