Conservatives Oppose Mass Criminal Release

With the presidential race the focus of most of the media attention, a major division among Senate Republicans over so-called "criminal justice reform" has gotten little attention. But the liberal media are now beginning to notice that conservatives are mounting a campaign to stop a piece of legislation that has been advertised as a major part of President Obama's left-wing legacy.

The Sentencing Reform and Corrections Act (S. 2123) would release thousands of criminals back on the streets at a time of rising crime rates, in the name of reducing what liberals call "mass incarceration."

This has been covered up by the politicians and the MSM. The Obama administration and the Democrats are pushing a bill through Congress that would release thousands of convicted criminals. Some Republicans are going along.

This is probably so the criminals can be released to commit more “gun violence.” The Democrats will use the spike in crime as a justification for gun control.

Considering ‘prison’ doesn’t even attempt to right the wrong to whomever/society, let alone ‘reform’ the individual, I say: So what?

I only hope the State for which they attempt their next crime is a carry State, where a Citizen takes out the trash.

IMO, Courts have RUINED this once fine country. Gone are the HARD-labor, chain-gangs. Punishment that most came out saying, “I’m NEVER going back again!”.

Just look at the push-back Sheriff Joe gets for his tent city! Pu$$y, compared to what I’d give ‘em! Then I’d be spending my time and taxpayer $$ defending every damn action.

I take issue with that. By just about any statistic you care to name crime rates - particularly violent crime rates - in the US have been decreasing more or less steadily since about 1990.

Now, the correlation here is that oddly enough, incarceration rates started increasing right around the same time. Hmmm... We started putting more criminals in jail, and crime rates started dropping... Wonder if there is a causal relationship there?

Of course, the liberal "logic" or response to this is "gee, lets let a bunch of criminals out of jail." I think people are waking up to the fact that we are far safer right now than we were back in the 70s and 80s. Of course, the liberals need fear-mongering to push through their agenda on emotional terms. Even the sheeple that feed at the MSM trough are twigging onto the lower crime rates... The liberals need help, they need more crime to instill more fear...
