Trump won't rule out Cruz as VP pick
Politico ^

Posted on 02/04/2016 4:30:06 PM PST by springwater13

In a striking reversal of rhetoric, Donald Trump would not rule out Ted Cruz as his hypothetical vice-presidential pick.

"Well, I don"t know. Look, I have nothing against him. It was sort of a sad thing that happened, but I'"ve always liked him," Trump told Hugh Hewitt on his radio show Thursday, after weeks of trashing his primary rival as nasty, hypocritical and disliked.

Trump added that he has "always gotten along well" with Cruz, but that "I'm so much now focused on New Hampshire."

Because he does NOT believe that...

Yeah, he does.

Now, maybe we can get back to the way things were going when it looked as if Trump and Cruz, JOINTLY, would have locked up the majority of the delegates and taken control of the Republican Party apparatus.

That ship sailed about the time Trump went full birther again.

Governor Abbot from Texas would be a better choice.

He would bring in Texas along with the rest of the South and Midwest.

Trump saying this today about Cruz, is just more of the same . Trump goes back and forth almost daily with opposing pronouncements.

What I am really interested in concerning Trump is - Will he show up for the debate with the same moderators from Fox, that he skipped this last time? Because he skipped that by saying he didn't have to do that and be insulted - and his spokesman boldly proclaimed. " He won't appear before them - His word is His Bond"

So I am interested to find out this more than anything else.

I for one am voting for Yashcheritsiy, even if he is an anchor baby born in the front hallway of Goldman Sachs!

This whole natural born issue has to be taken up and settled. But with the dumb assed worthless congress we have, they’d simply screw that up also.

I don’t know what Trump would do. He’s too unpredictable. I think he’s out of his depth. He doesn’t even understand—much less be committed to and be able to articulate and persuade toward—social conservatism or constitutional, limited-government, Tenth-Amendment conservatism. His behavior and temperament are an embarrassment. Abortion, gay marriage, religious liberty, Supreme Court nominations—I don’t trust him to think, act, or govern as a social and constitutional conservative.

How can he select Cruz and his vice president when he doesn’t believe he is constitutionally eligible to be president?

Wasn't it just last year that Trump had a bunch of high-power attorneys look into the issue and they told him that Cruz didn't have an issue? Maybe now Trump has decided to listen to the attorneys since it is to his advantage.

Ha. True, true. In fairness to him, though, operating the memory hole is a bit more challenging in the era of Twitter screenshots.

Correct.

Trump knows that he is in trouble and has at least figured out that messing with Cruz was a big mistake.

But, another pitcher of martinis may bring on another tanTrump.

ABC is doing the debate.

You are correct. But Fox is doing the 11th in the series of twelve debates on March 3rd. And they have already stated they will be using the same moderators.

I appreciate your reply. He certainly is not a typical politician. I think that is why he is so popular. It is so annoying having these politicians being so politically correct. I guess we will find out in 4 months who the nominee is.

But don't you think he would really get things done?

Maybe, but not any better than any other reasonable alternative President. We still don't have a dictator system in the US, as much as some might wish we did. And thank God for that.

You honestly don't think he wouldn't have contractors on the border day 1....apparently the bill has been passed in 2005 or something but never used.

He has a snowball in hell's chance to 'have contractors on the border day one'. That's just cheap bar talk - or if I wanted to be gracious I would say he's just exaggerating for political impact. But, no, I don't believe for an instant that he could get the work started any quicker than, say, Ted Cruz, who is equally committed to securing the border with Mexico.

You don't think he would fix the VISA procedures?

Over time, sure, but so would Ted Cruz.

You don't think he would kill every ISIS person he could in a relatively quick time?

He'd try, sure, but so will Ted Cruz. This is easier said than done, you know. Trump is overpromising here, and so is Cruz. We are in a generational conflict; this is not going to be over any time soon. Our grandkids will still be fighting this war.

You don't think he would slash the budget?

No, I don't. Trump will not cut the budget and worse, he will try to get Congress to raise taxes to pay for his grandiose single-payer health insurance scheme. He himself has mentioned something like $2 Trillion in new taxes.

I think for this election those are the 4 items of most importance. If he did those 4 things and didn't do another thing, he would be a complete success. Don't you think?

These are all important, sure, but I would say that they are not the most important. My issues are: Fixing the corrupt tax code, jump starting the economy, and devolving the Federal government's illegal, unconstitutional and crushing regulatory regime. And fighting ISIS and securing the border of course, but these are givens. For me, Trump is second best on all these issues.

Cruz is in no need of any action whatsoever.

Any attempt at a challenge would be rebuffed by the courts.

This is all foolish kabuki.

Cruz won’t pick Trump as VP because Trump is psychologically imbalanced and not a conservative.
