The fury of Ben Carson (campaign vows to make Cruz pay)
Politico ^

Posted on 02/04/2016 7:02:21 PM PST by springwater13

The candidate and his flailing campaign look consumed with one thing: Making Ted Cruz pay for 'dirty tricks' in Iowa.

Five days from the New Hampshire primary, Ben Carson has yet to set foot in this state since his fourth-place finish in Iowa. His detour to Florida for a fresh set of clothes has become a running joke online. The candidate is, by all indications, consumed by what he calls the "dirty tricks" of Ted Cruz’s campaign.

"Dr. Carson feels absolutely robbed, violated," said Armstrong Williams, a Carson confidant, in a phone interview. "He realizes, the Democrats are not his enemies trying to malign him. It's people who smile in his face, shake his hand, go out to dinner with him - and yet, they’re trying to destroy him behind his back."

How Trump lost any votes because of this “dirty trick” requires a huge leap in logic.

Amen brother

Based on what we know about the financial condition of Carson’s campaign, I think it is highly likely that Carson intended to go home and talk to his staff and family about quitting. The statement about going home to get clothes doesn’t pass the smell test - a campaign that has to lay off 40% of its staff doesn’t have the spare cash for the candidate to fly to Florida for clean clothes. But I think once the rumor got out he was quitting, he tried to quash it because he hadn’t really made up his mind yet. And now he is keeping this alive not because he really thinks he lost any votes (he did better than he was expected to), but because it keeps him in the spotlight a little longer.

I can pretty much guarantee that he is only hanging on through NH because to drop out now after making such a big fuss would make him look like a phony. He will be out by the end of next week.

This is all yesterday’s news. Rubio is the threat, it won’t be Cruz.

Rubio’s got a fan club on Twitter, thinks he’s cute and smart, their only criteria for electing a President. We all need to turn our energies to defeating the Obama clone, Rubio.

Yep.....only one correction...he went home with plans to leave there and attend the Washington’s Obama prayer breakfast. Clearly that is not a man who’s in a Presidential race to win but for some other reason.

I think he had already made up his mind he was quitting the race....he simply wanted to control how he exited and when.....his agenda showed no plans for meetings in NH or any other state.

Whatever his intentions...he was done and lost control of what he thought he could control....now he’s going to bask in the media for a time....

There’s only one person who is to blame for this mess....and that’s Carson.

It's not yesterday's news when you keep accusing Cruz of starting this and stating that his campaign said something they didn't.

You have a good evening.

“Trump has bought a lot of politicians. I’m sure he won’t have any trouble buying a voter.”

Yes, Trump said in the first debate he would trade money for favors. I assume he’s talking about in addition to campaign contributions. Did he initiate the “deal” for the favors or did he respond to offers? Did he ever make someone an offer they couldn’t refuse?

Lawyer-speak. Or Clinton-speak.

The Cruz message is cleverly worded to imply that Carson is dropping out (that’s how I would interpret it). The following message was a bit more direct (but still pol- speak.)

I doubt enough votes were changed to decrease Carson’s delegate count.

OTOH, it is the sort of “typical politics” that average people find increasingly disgusting.

The Cruz campaign email does not state that Carson is dropping out. Period.

However, Rubio's supporter does push that Carson is out.

You can try and spin that anyway you like.

Goodnight and have a good one.

Agreed. The “fresh clothing” excuse comes across as phony. FedEx a suit from home, for crying out loud. It would be like somebody walking off the field in the middle of the world series, sitting in the bleachers, and telling everybody, hey, wait, I’m still in the game. I never said I was quitting.

In law, sometime we determine the mindset of a person from their actions, even when their words do not confirm or even contradict those actions. A person can say, I never wanted the contractor to do my roof. No, but you let him do it, you even handed him the hammer and some shingles, so that’s an implied contract.

The bigger point is, voting for Carson was wasting a valuable vote. How many times have I heard it here. Don’t waste your vote on candidate X, it’s just like voting for Obama, because candidate X can’t win. Same logic.

BTW, Breitbart has a pretty good timeline here:

http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2016/02/04/cruz-carson-email-trump-iowa-cnn/

It seems the whole escapade lasted little more than half an hour. Very easy during all that back and forth to miss the denials or to disregard the denials as phony posturing, relying on one’s own instincts as to what the news of Carson’s going awol actually meant. I agree with your assessment that Carson is probably driving this nonsense for the attention. Pitiful to watch what appears to be the victim mentality on display in someone so accomplished.

Peace,

SR

It is certainly implied, and you conveniently neglect the following communication.

Reported today (on Fox) that precinct after precinct chairman said that the Carson drop out news was too late, that the speeches were already over and the vote was underway and it didn't make any difference in the vote.

That's probably why there's been no report (that I've seen) from anybody who said they'd changed their vote.

Carson lost by a LOT. Now he's using this as a way to raise money. He's using this as a way to stay in the news in my opinion.

Carson polls less than 3% in NH. He is down to few staff with a ton of them going to Cruz. Carson is done.

he wants the media attention and the fund raising

While it is all speculation at this point and will be ancient history by this time next week, you are spot on. His fund raising had already dried up and he has not been considered a serious contender for weeks but now has been given new life. Other candidates and the media will use him for their purposes until the outrage is exhausted and then they will drop him but, in the meantime, he can use his victim status to help with fund raising and attract sympathetic media attention. Could not be better if he had planned it that way.

Support the guy who calls you a "child molester"

Have you lost all your senses?

This isn't about non-existent votes that Cruz could even toss Carson's way.

This isn't about votes - it's all about $$$$$!

This is all about Carson's victim hood and dried up donations, it's about a campaign lavish spending on hotels ($9,000 at Four Seasons and $1,100 at the Ritz Carlton, just to mention a few), it was about campaign staff flying around and not in coach or on SW Airlines! Don't believe me, Politico has written extensively on Carson's staff foibles.

What about Carson's finance director being forced to resign for questionable expenditures to a company that is wholly owned by the director's wife! Again, chech Politico stories, they are rife with the fast sinking Carson ship!

Problem with your theory is, his votes won’t go to trump, they’ll go to Rubio.

People are getting really turned off by Trump’s antics. Loud and angry wears people down.

Meanwhile Rubio is calm , soft spoken, good looking and young.

If Rubio wins because someone “Took Cruz out”...

Trump and his supporters deserve the blame.

Rubio’s crew did the same thing, so says Mark Levin. But it’s not being reported because everyone’s aiming for Cruz. Ben Carson should let this go or go after Rubio, too. Did Carson make a deal with the GOPe?

I was watching fox caucus nite and they remarked carson told them he was intending to drop out, but since he did so well he was going home to get more clothes. the timing of all this comes into question. and why would carson tell the media anything and when did he decide he was robbed. fox is saying nothing about this. I think fox picked this up from cnn and doesn’t want to admit they inferred the same thing as ceuz.

Our sovereignty and Liberty are under assault by the Marxists and we’re pissing and moaning about last weeks tweet. Perhaps Mr. Carson wasn’t meant for politics.
