Good grief. I have had these types of letters from campaigns for years. They went in the trash like all other campaign mailers. The attempts to paint this as a new thing are complete BS.

If he would have left the neighbors names off, it would have been zero interest story.

Rubio had similar mailers.

On the other hand, Cruz has all the right enemies.

If only the Des Moines Register has checked with the Cruz supporters here, all their misgivings would have been cleared away.

1. It really did not happen.

2. Everybody does it.

3. It is nothing.

4.

5.

Who knew that Iowan's are so "delicate" that they can't handle flyers that the rest of us across the country have received?

I agree that this was a common, run of the mill mailing that was made offensive by the clumsy, tone-deaf way that is was implemented. Whoever it was that designed, and more importantly whoever it was who approved it, has no business participating in a national campaign of this importance.

Maybe he doesn’t want to do it publicly, but Cruz needs to get his house in order. I say this as a Cruz supporter who does not want to see further self-inflicted injuries.

Fox had interesting #s this evening, though I’m not exactly sure what they mean. They said 24% of Trump’s voters “initially decided” to stay home. Does that mean they came out anyway, or DID stay home?

BTW, 13% of Cruz’s voters did, so Trump still would have lost by about 1800 votes if it means that they DID stay home. Did anyone see this?

After Iowa there is no way anyone can coherently pretend Ted is the only “principled” candidate in the race.

Team Ted - all by themselves - and by their own actions - utterly destroyed that meme.

Yeah. Whoever is running the GOP needs to be fired. They do things that just cause us to look stupid. I am talking about the idea to leave Carly off the stage. The only woman running. Democrats talking war on woman which is dumb but probably effective. I like Carly bashing Hillary. We can certainly be the dumb party for sure. Cruz doesn’t help our cause at all.

Yep, just like Rubio’s campaign circulated the CNN story. Des Moines Register’s candidate didn’t win and their poll was completely discredited, so they’re out for blood.

That would be Reince Priebus, who I am convinced has incriminating pictures of somebody to have kept his job after the Romney debacle.

When I think of Priebus, I think of the Kevin Spacey character in "Glengarry, Glen Ross", who should be dressed down by Al Pacino ("Where did you learn your trade, you stupid.......")

Go away, Des Moines Register. Your thirty seconds in the spotlight is over.

I agree. I think this was Cruz’s nomination to lose and he is certainly trying to. So many dumb mistakes that weren’t necessary. He could easily have walked into this nomination. I am not a fan but I am sadden that he sort of ruined it for himself. From what I understand, he has some real experts on targeting voters and has done it all over the country and could be successful, but when they hear all these errors they may change their minds. Kind of a shame really.

-- The attempts to paint this as a new thing are complete BS. --

The paper didn't say they were anything new, it said the campaign lied. Lies in political campaigns are as old as political campaigns.

"In essence, the mailer was a complete lie, from start to finish."

Nothing new about that.
