Most Americans are not THAT demanding of a strict definition of conservatism
/8^)
Consider that God elevated Obama to president to wake up a sleeping nation. Suppose Obama was the answer to many prayers pleading for a return to God revival in this country.(the Lord moves in mysterious ways) Now, suppose Trump can defeat the evil of political correctness, a bane to Christians. Empowered once again, we can take back and restore some sanity to our society. My faith isn’t in Trump. My faith is in God and We, the People but it takes a human leader to inspire others and lend courage. It’s up to us.

How can anyone calling themselves Conservative run for President with a straight face and be for TPA, increasing H-1B's 500% and Corker amendment?
Question everything FReepers the Establishment facade is falling down because the PC mortar holding it togehter is crumbling under the weight of Trump.
Just curious, do you like mac and cheese dinners?
That's a pathetic attempt to support a conservative philosophy that does not exist!......Sheesh
I believe in the right to purchase the most salty potato chip that appeals to my pallet.......If you don't then you're definitely not a Conservative........
Now knock it off or I shall taunt you again!
I am a Cruz supporter I will start there.
Trump fired up the immigration debate by talking about the wall. No one can deny that it probably would have been a secondary issue, after the economy if he had not done so.
Let’s be completely honest:
Trump and Cruz both have come a long way to the right from where they both started, before the campaigns, not all that long ago.
Trump once said that Romney’s self deportation was cruel, and Cruz said once that there should be a way to legalization (but mot citizenship) after a long (25 year?) waiting period. I think if that happened, citizenship would be lobbied for buy the Dems and the Cheap Labor crowd. Not a great idea.
Trump and his son have both publicly stated during this campaign that they would expedite the return of the good ones after deportation. That could start a hailstorm of good ones entering the country, knowing they will be expedited back legally, a shortcut. Not a great idea.
Cruz has been slammed for his H1B policy of the past, which was not a great idea. Now he has agreed to stop the practice, due to its abuses, until things have been sorted out. Cruz has also said that if illegal, no citizenship ever.
Trump said ban Muslims until we sort this thing out. Cruz said ban people coming from terrorist controlled nations, until we can sort this thing out. Both will be difficult to enforce. People will say they are not Muslim, or come in from non-terrorist controlled countries, and still have the capacity to do harm. Good ideas, not perfect.
Both men have come farther right, more conservative on immigration over time.
Neither have 100% perfect solutions, and both had to travel a ways to get here, but both are a lot better on this subject than anyone else running for President, and pretty close to one another, when you get down to it.
If this is the number one issue, both are very strong here. Not much difference between the 2 in their current positions.
Having stated that they are both strong on immigration why I like Cruz as my number one pick is for the more for some the other conservative principles.
Smaller government, fighting federal government power and overreach, devolving power back to the states via 10th amendment, strong 2nd amendment rights, individual liberty, including religious liberty, taking down federal regulations and subsidies (like ethanol) to allow more competitive situations, anti-abortion, the constitution as the framework, etc.
Not slamming Trump, I like him, just stating why I like Cruz a bit better.
Thribbit!!
thank you
You are quite welcome.
You know, we may have hit upon the typical Cruz fan, one who is completely ignorant of colonial history and equally ignorant about Reagan.
Let's start with Reagan. So, you say I am lying that Reagan put a 100% tariff on Japanese electronics in March of 1987 (as would trump but not Cruz)? Really? It's a fact, and I'm no liberal but you are ignorant of the facts. And, you say I am lying that Reagan in 1983 didn't solidify Social Security - part of which was a deal to raise the payroll tax? Really? It's a fact, and I'm not liberal but you are ignorant of the facts. I Strongly suggest you read up on Reagan instead of just listening to the constant name dropping from people like Cruz.
So, let's look at colonial America: political hacks who rewarded donors and lived off of the tax payer where non-existent. Read the autobiographies of Jefferson and his letters. They were pragmatic people beyond the singular attribute of piety. Trump would be at home in that environment whereas Cruz would be held in suspicion. I am not a liberal but you are ignorant of the facts.
Always spreading bread on troubled water, thatâs me.
See my tagline. That’s how I’m feeling about it.
“If he builds the wall and closes the immigration door to muslims ... he will have accomplished more than any president since Kennedy.”
Heck, if Trump wasn’t running and Bernie Sanders made a credible case for the above, I’d be wearing a Sanders tee-shirt to work every day.
(now that should get my stalkers here going, LOL)
