On Wednesday’s broadcast of Fox News Channel’s “Hannity,” Gov. John Kasich (R-OH), a candidate for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination, reacted to the claim that he is a so-called establishment candidate, given his finish in New Hampshire and compared to two of the front-runners, Donald Trump and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), that he is running against.

Kasich dismissed the label of “establishment” and touted his record in Congress as proof that he didn’t go along to get along as an establishment politician might do.

“I’m not establishment,” Kasich said. “Sean, I make the establishment upset. ...

“I was indeed part of the establishment -— with Newt Gringrich and his revolution when we took back Congress and actually did things, like bring the President to OUR table and balanced budgets. Lately I’ve been a Gov and any Gov can tell you that running a state is a permanent battle against the Washington establishment.”

How hard was that.

Amateurs.

Oh yeah, Kasich, you are sooooooo establishment. You reek of business as usual, campaign with a wink and a nod to your masters.

How is it all these politicians worked in govt or on Wall Street but can claim with a straight face they are not “establishment”?

Its a kick watching these candidates instantly morph depending upon which state their trying to appeal to.

A week ago they were talking about how open to compromise they were.

Now its all gun rights and "I'm a maverick".

Kasich wants us all to hug it out. How’s that for a presidential policy. If I tried to hug my neighbor this morning and he would reach for his gun - as he should as would I if situation was reversed. Kasich, take your hugs for vote campaign back home.

No, but you are a Liberal, who claims you are further to the left than Hillary.

But in his defense he's not as far left as Bernie. He said so...and many Independents voted for him in NH for just that reason.

Just checked. Kasich served in the HOR from 1983 until 2001. He started out as a true conservative and had some good accomplishments.

Then something snapped. In OH, his idea "of conservative" is the deep pocket elite who would love to have a President who is sold out to globalist and other corporate interests. For OH, that's where all the money goes, lining their pockets. The cities and towns have been starved of necessary funds (that come from taxes WE pay) so Kasich can bloviate about the terrific state budget. There is a reliably conservative legislature in OH, but Kasich's main skill has been to get around anything they vote for that doesn't fit his liberal agenda.

I've been cyber-screaming this. Why folks didn't work to get Kasich out of it early, I'll never know. He is a smart campaigner once he sees a path to victory. And I suspect he'll sell out to anyone.

As I look at the candidates I like Kasich. Trump too abrasive...Ted Cruz to dark....Rubio wants to go to war with Syria....Kasich starting to seem best choice.

That's correct, Gov. Kasich, you are not Establishment, you're a Donkey masquerading as a Republican — a RINO — and no a very good one.

Trust me. He’s not your best choice. Admittedly, being in Illinois Jeb Junior must seem like Barry Goldwater to you.

Phil Crane’s line to John Anderson in 1980 applies to Kasich today:

“John, you’re the classiest Democrat running.”
