.. actually he is taking a productive job from a younger person who may need that a job. Sorry that is the way I see it ..That's okay!
We need the Moron View, for balance.

How sad. It is so hard to find a job after 50. You should be ashamed to feel that way.

Anybody who thinks this is a âgreat storyâ is both mentally retarded and a hypocrite. Slavery was arguably better than this scenario. Talking about mental retardation. Slavery would be his employer imposing on him that he live 10.5 miles from work and that he had to walk.
For one reason or another he lived that far away. For one reason or another he didn't have a bike. For one reason or another he didn't buy a beater car.
Whatever the reasons, his employer didn't force them upon him.
He's in his life position for whatever reasons.
STILL...he's a good and reliable worker in spite of the odds.

It would not surprise me to discover that he has been paying it forward, donating to those in need and keeping quiet about it. He strikes me as that sort of guy.

Wow - Obama should really be taking credit for this. I mean, really, this guy used the roads and sidewalks more than most people. He didn’t keep that job by himself - he needed government help to do it. /s

And the younger person deserves that job more why?

My point was he was funded by strangers he may consider retraining and do something more productive and interesting then I saw he was 57. I thought he was a little younger than that I really didn’t read it. But to late now I an the anti Christ.

Yes it does!
“But this man - James Robertson - at age 57, walked 21 miles to work (to and from) every day!”
Read that? It reads 21 miles to and from, not 24 miles round trip.
Don’t buy an airline ticket with that logic

You’re seriously demented.
“But this man - James Robertson - at age 57, walked 21 miles to work (to and from) every day!”
It reads to and from not round trip!
Maybe read it yourself?

——at age 57, walked 21 miles to work -—
if true, he walked to where he drew a paycheck
work is another matter.

Maybe the secret decoding is in the parenthetical phrase, to and from. I read that as 21 miles total.
Your mileage may vary.
