Heidi Cruz said Wednesday that her husband, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), was showing America "the face of the God that we serve" through his faith-based Republican presidential campaign.
Cruz said in an interview with South Carolina radio host Vince Coakley that she would support her husband's campaign even if she weren't married to him because of his religious values.

I thought of you just now as I was making supper. I was thinking how people vilify Cruz for being a lawyer, but in the current climate we need somebody who knows the law and knows how to defend the Judeo-Christian foundations of our nation from a legal perspective. These things have to be done right - not only because there will be cries of “right-wing theocrat!” if it’s done wrong, but also because if it’s done wrong it could actually establish the foundation that could ultimately be used to institute sharia.
We’re walking a fine, fine line between freedom and safety. We say people are free to follow their religion, but we are facing a huge influx of people whose religion says that non-Muslims must be killed and/or enslaved. How do you navigate that? Somebody who understands the Constitution and yet also understands the nature of our enemies and the moral foundations of our nation IS uniquely able to deal with these things.
To hear the FR throng, you’d think that lawyers are always bad. You know that’s not the case. Love him or hate him, everybody has to realize that the Jewish Christian attorney, Larry Klayman, has done this nation a service by filing the lawsuits necessary to expose the national security risks Hillary and the State Dept exposed this nation to, by trying to hide her communications from FOIA requests (why would she want to do that if her actions and motives were above-board?).
Sarah Palin says Cruz’s efforts are needed in the Senate rather than in the White House. Maybe so; I haven’t sorted that out yet. But Freepers are not thinking clearly when they make certain arguments. They seem to be controlled not by a sound mind and honesty but by sheer partisan spirit, and that is disturbing. Doesn’t matter if they favor Trump or Cruz; what bothers me is dialog that is not grounded in truth but on visceral hatred from the party spirit of the fallen human nature.
Thanks for posting Her actual words.
I was pretty sure that Her words would be quite different from the TMZ “let's get us a knuckle dragging Conservative today and get some clicks” spew.
P.S. Don't get too down about Freepers not responding.
Many, like me I suspect, don't wish to regularly get involved in the Primary Craziness that happens here every 4 Years.
It must take a special kind of arrogance to think that Cruz is showing America the face of God. Absolutely revolting.
You are spamming again..I have never heard this from Cruz.
Correct sentiments from Reagan. He never claimed to be the face of God, he pointed everyone to God.
Keep reading. You’ll get to the actual words she said, which are NOT as TPM presents them. Please don’t get suckered by media/political entities who hate both God and conservatism, and have no regard for truthfulness.
Gotta run, but just one example of how the Judeo-Christian foundation needs defending. Regardless of who is the D candidate, they are running on a socialist platform. I have a former friend who is a LCMS pastor who regularly posts on FB in support of Bernie. I can’t help but wonder what he tells his confirmation students when “Thou shalt not steal” comes up. As a Christian and a Constitutionalist Cruz can explain why our foundations support the right of ownership - and that is one thing this election is expressly about.
Why? He changes his mind weekly on what his core beliefs are. I’m actually curious.
See what she said

She did not say Ted Cruz was the face of God...
OH please.
Get over yourself, Butt, just get over yourself. I’m beyond sick of all this sanctimony.
Heidi Cruz made an incredibly stupid statement and s/he deserves all the comments blowing back at them. Sen. Cruz is NOT, repeat, NOT the “face of the God we serve.” Not by the proverbial country mile. That’s just blasphemy.
Would not have believed it six months ago, but now, absolutely. I have experienced similar thoughts and sentiments from Donaldâs cult.

Prove it.
Give me quotes and links of some of us cultists who called Trump God.
On the other hand, you seem just fine with Cruz being called God.
Pretty big difference between Reagan and the claim that Cruz is somehow the Face of God.
“she did not say Ted Cruz wax the face of God”
She’s saving that for the next 911 email donation plea. :-)
My bad; I re-read Heidi’s comments and forced myself to look at the context.
I just don’t buy that Ms. CFR is a serious Christian.
Heidi Cruz never claimed that Ted was the face of God. I’ve posted her quote.
If you think they’re being too “holy”, fine, but don’t lie about what she actually said. That’s all I’m saying.
Thank you for doing that, and for having the integrity to retract - as I’ve had to do many times also, since we all make mistakes. It doesn’t matter a whole lot to me who a person supports, but that integrity of truth means the world to me so thank you for being a person of integrity.
Not sure how we judge that. Trump has cheated on his wife and boasts of his sexual conquests but has never asked God for forgiveness for anything, by his own claims. Yet he says he is a Christian and he’s a member of the Presbyterian Church USA, IIRC.
It’s not a deal-breaker for me. I want somebody who will fight for the Constitution and for the American people and I think both Trump and Cruz would do that. But if we’re going to call any of these people fake Christians, we should at least be aware that the knife cuts both ways...
Trump may be very open about his colorful past so that we know he doesn’t have any secrets that would make him blackmail-able. And for the purpose of good governance, that openness is probably more important than having a flawless record of morality. So even though from a Christian standpoint his seeming unrepentance isn’t good, from the governance aspect it is probably better than letting people know there are things of which he is ashamed, which could make him blackmail-able. Our task is not necessarily to have somebody who is theologically correct, but to have somebody whose allegiance to the Constitution and the country will not be compromised.
All other things being equal, I would prefer a candidate who is theologically correct because it shows an ear that listens to God’s Word and Spirit, and God promises that those who trust in Him will never be put to shame. Somebody who understands God’s justice and mercy and how they meet in the cross of Christ is more likely to be able to recognize that sometimes people need the harshness of the Law and sometimes they need the deliverance of the Gospel - which is an important thing for dealing with an entitlement culture. A more secular person can also recognize that in the concept of “tough love” (and I do believe Trump understands it from that perspective), and that’s how policy may have to be explained to the public, but somebody who has been through the process of repentance and healing is probably better able to speak it to others who need it. A man who professes to never have hit bottom might have a tough time speaking to those who need to hit bottom so they can learn they aren’t entitled to anything but the gifts they are given are genuinely gifts.
