Nazareth's Mediterranean Restaurant
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — One person is dead and several injured after a machete attack at a restaurant in northeast Columbus.
Four people were taken to the hospital with injuries, including one person who was taken to Grant Medical Center in life-threatening condition. The person had surgery and has been downgraded to stable condition, Columbus Police said.
This happened at the Nazareth restaurant, which is in a shopping center on North Hamilton Road.
Sgt. Rich Weiner said there seemed to be “no rhyme or reason†to the attack.
The FBI is assisting Columbus Police, according to spokesperson Todd Lindgren.
Weiner said the suspect was in the restaurant, speaking with an employee, less than an hour before the attack. He said police are not releasing the suspect’s name or age at this time.
Officers who responded to a nearby location looking for the suspect discharged their weapons, a police spokesperson says. Police shot and killed the suspect on Steltzer Road, near McCutcheon Road.
At least one machete has also been recovered.

“I had gotten a text about the guy with the machete, at McCutcheon and Morse Crossing which is right where I live,†she said. “Then, I came here and I’m trying to figure out what’s going on.â€
Zakas said people love the restaurant and its owner.
“Everybody leaves here with a smile,†she said. “It’s a real happy place, he [the owner] has been in business for 26 years, so he’s got a great reputation around here. The restaurant’s got a great reputation.
“It scared the crap out of me, to begin with. Then, when I found out where it’s at, it’s really kind of freaking me out.â€
NBC4 reporters Reneé LaSalle and Dan Pearlman are working to get more details from both locations and will have live updates tonight on NBC4 at 11pm
“No rhyme or reason” means there is a very specific, unspoken reason.
The food is horrible, and the portions are so small!

Strange. Most Greek restaurants end up on Kitchen Nightmares.
One of my favorite restaurants is an old Greek place, family owned and operated. They do have fights back in the kitchen at times, I alternate between wondering what they’re yelling in Greek and not wanting to know, lol. Good food, good people, but they wear their emotions on their shirtsleeves.

Restaurant patrons recorded cell phone video, threw chairs at the assailant and tried to stop him. Prayers for the injured and for the neighborhood and LEOs. Many thanks that people fought back.
I hope everyone recovers from their wounds and that the whole accurate truth of the investigation is made public, as it should be. A lot of brave and quick thinking customers came to aid. Very thankful for them. I live in a small town, too...but with rail access to the city. Stay safe.. and vigilant.
Well, I knew something like this would happen.
If we had a machete control program in effect this would have never happened. No one should be able to own a machete without the proper training, a background check and completion of a machete chopping demonstration class.
The next thing we need is a toilet certification class so that little boys can prevent serious injury by dropping the toilet seat on their little peckers.
The government will take care of us all.
Considering getting a CCW permit in Ohio is fairly simple do you know if the restaurant is posted as a no gun zone.

The author reports that the restaurant displays an Israeli flag, but adds that it also has a welcoming sign in Arabic and tries for an internationalist profile. As if an infidels can protect themselves from the violence of Jihadi terrorism with displays, acts and/or words of multicultural devotion:
