The scary thing is that this was in Tenleytown, a very nice older neighborhood in upper Northwest Connecticut Avenue.

The Marine did not maintain situational awareness.

When a group of blacks initiate a conversation with you, ALWAYS assume they are sizing you up for attack, NEVER turn your back to them. It doesn’t matter if they ask you if black lives matter, or if you have spare change — they are watching your reaction to see if you are safe to take on.

I frequently read about stolen credit cards being used soon after to purchase things.

Why don’t credit cards, like debit cards, require the use of a PIN to prevent the thugs from using them? Even thugs can fake a signature, but it’s doubtful they can fake a PIN.

It is my understanding that there is no such thing as A former Marine. How long will the citizens of DC put up with this crap. "DC Home Rule" is a sop to a bunch of whiny activists. They can't or won't enforce the law. Perhaps the Commandant of the Marine Corps would authorize what the Navy used to call a dungaree liberty.

When a group of black people, especially under 35 years of age, initiates a conversation...it should IMMEDIATELY be regarded as hostile until proven otherwise.
The slightest crackling voice or wavering will indicate to urban youths their potential target lacks resolve.
