>>I think Trump could be a Nebuchadnezzar to tear down an old system that had become corrupt.

Nebuchadnezzar was driven insane and spent a few years living like an animal in the desert; after which that man-king (confuzed with Lucifer in Isaiah 14) was ultimately reconciled to God.

There will never be such a reconciliation for that other character who tempted Jesus in the desert, or those who serve him - regardless of whether their servitude was through premeditation or deception.

Consider the character of Trump from another angle: is he a role model you’d want to hold up as an example for your children?

It’s funny how at least 75% of the daily 100s of Trump Eats Babies threads here come from left wing sites like the Beast

The rest from Fox News or Red State or Beck inc

It’s not working is it?

As with most, there are some things that are worthy and some things that aren’t.

But, IF Trump wins the election, and that is not a far-fetched notion anymore, what do you think is God’s intent?

http://kuyperian.com/c-s-lewis-poison-subjectivism/

“A Christianity which does not see moral and religious experience converging to meet at infinity, not at a negative infinity, but in the positive infinity of the living yet superpersonal God, has nothing, in the long run, to divide it from devil worship; and a philosophy which does not accept value as eternal and objective can lead us only to ruin. Nor is the matter of merely speculative importance. Many a popular “planner” on a democratic platform, many a mild-eyed scientist in a democratic laboratory means, in the last resort, just what the Fascist means. He believes that “good” means whatever men are conditioned to approve. He believes that it is the function of him and his kind to condition men; to create consciences by eugenics, psychological manipulation of infants, state education and mass propaganda. Because he is confused, he does not yet fully realize that those who create conscience cannot be subject to conscience themselves. But he must awake to the logic of his position sooner or later; and when he does, what barrier remains between us and the final division of the race into a few conditioners who stand themselves outside morality and the many conditioned in whom such morality as the experts choose is produced at the experts’ pleasure? If “good” means only the local ideology, how can those who invent the local ideology be guided by any idea of good themselves? The very idea of freedom presupposes some objective moral law which overarches rulers and ruled alike. Subjectivism about values is eternally incompatible with democracy. We and our rulers are of one kind only so long as we are subject to one law. But if there is no Law of Nature, the ethos of any society is the creation of its rulers, educators and conditioners; and every creator stands above and outside his creation.”

He believes that “good” means whatever men are conditioned to approve.

C.S. Lewis was one of the greats. Thanks for posting the link. It is so refreshing to read thoughtful insight here on Freerepublic where of late it has been painfully replaced with “red meat rhetoric.” All I can think of in this political season is the scripture Ezekiel 22:24-26

The Sins of Prophets, Priests, Prince...24”Son of man, say to her, ‘You are a land that is not cleansed or rained on in the day of indignation.’ 25”There is a conspiracy of her prophets in her midst like a roaring lion tearing the prey. They have devoured lives; they have taken treasure and precious things; they have made many widows in the midst of her. 26”Her priests have done violence to My law and have profaned My holy things; they have made no distinction between the holy and the profane, and they have not taught the difference between the unclean and the clean; and they hide their eyes from My sabbaths, and I am profaned among them...

NO. I was definitely in the Liberal persuasion during my college years, especially when it came to Vietnam where many of our generation were cannon fodder. It would have been quite different if we wanted to win the damn thing, but instead we setteled for what?56,000( 4 good buddies of mine) of my generation killed for really nothing. To me this is the darkest stain on our country. If you enlisted ,good for you, but to me it was a lesson in futility. If you remember McNamara even cried when he was interviewed about Vietnam shortly before he died.Clintoon was quoted as saying he was too important a person to be drafted.
In the end it is written in stone and in the past and there is nothing we can do except not repeat it and kick azz like we did in WWII.Korea was a farce also!IMHO!

Big deal! A deferment is a deferment .Guess Libs forgot what Clintoon did!( and sleeping around was his personal Vietnam also)

I'm sure the GOP establishment will also use the "draft dodger" smear against Trump. It's funny how draft deferments make Trump a "draft dodger," while Dick Cheney's half-dozen or more deferments during the Vietnam War never prevented him from being a hero and icon to the GOP establishment.

The 2-S classifications are Trump’s student deferments. The first two covered his time at Fordham University in the Bronx, and the second two allowed him to stay in school when he transferred to study business at the University of Pennsylvania.

At the time, as Tigar wrote in his 1969 article, any college student who asked could get a student deferment. When he graduated in 1968, Trump’s classification shifted to 1-A, or “available for service.”

Had that stood, Trump would have been drafted.

But Trump had a physical exam in September 1968. He had taken one less than two years earlier that did not disqualify him for service as we can tell from his 1-A classification in July 1968. However, his second physical was followed in October with a new classification, 1-Y. That designation put him near the bottom of any call-up list. It meant he would only be drafted if there were a national emergency.

Until recently, the only detail on record about that shift was it was medically related. After his comments about McCain, Trump said it had to do with bone spurs in his heels. Trump reportedly was active in college sports, playing baseball, tennis and squash.

More likely it is Belshazzar of Chapter 5 Daniel.

He was the one overthrown by Persia. His actions were an “in Your face” to God at the feast at which the handwriting on the wall appeared.

Oddly enough, chapter 5 Daniel was part of my reading this morning.

>>what do you think is God’s intent?

Gen 18:32

32 Then he said, “May the Lord not be angry, but let me speak just once more. What if only ten can be found there?”

He answered, “For the sake of ten, I will not destroy it.”
NIV

Ex 34:6-7
6 And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, “The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, 7 maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children and their children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation.”
NIV

I had a deferment as a college student. Smoke em if you got em!The Vietnam police action was a total waste of American lives for nothing.I even teared up at the Vietnam Memorial because of the loss of all those soldiers who in my opinion were fed to the dogs of war.( by the military industrial complex)BTW, If i was there I would have made Lt. Calley look like an angel.

Cruz’s people are not deep thinkers, it seems they never think past the first move. Cruz will now be badgered for his selective service registration info.

Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished;

Yes, I think judgment continues. Now it will be in the form of discipline. He loves those He disciplines.

Ted’s info is pretty much irrelevant unless it shows any sign he knew of his Canadian citizenship.

I’m interested in his father’s info pretty much to put the timeline together. It could give some insight into Cruz’s mom’s disposition toward giving up her US citizenship.

But unless she would have done so before his birth, then it’s irrelevant. And Ted was born a year after their arrival, so the odds of Canadian citizenship requirements moving that quickly would be pretty remote.

I understand what you’re saying.

I look at Trumps children and see well adjusted, successful individuals. How big a monster could he be? I know he’s been married three times (so had Rush for that matter).

My father was a male whore most of his life. One of his sayings was “any port in a storm”. I think we all know what that means. I pray for him.

But now, the ‘men without chests’ are the backstabbing people we sent to congress. They funded PP, they funded BarackCare, they funded 300,000 Syrian invaders, ect. They gave birth to the Trumpquake. I’m riding the wave till the end.
