It doesn't make me not want to have kids, it just makes me want to be very, very, veeery picky about whom I bind myself to.

women and men are not the same. we are meant to complement each other, not compete with each other. the end result is a society with confused gender roles, miserably unhappy people, and extreme political correctness.

The problem for her is that it is very difficult for a woman in her late 30s and 40s to find a nice guy. Most of the good guys are already married and the guys that aren't, are married to their careers.
Many men at that age have been through at least one divorce and are very comfortable with the freewheeling lifestyle.
My wife's two friends are experiencing it for themselves. Both are divorced twice and both are very frustrated with men. They want long term relationships (not necessarily marriage, but they are definitely looking for a commitment). Men at their age are not willing to commit.

What you describe is the genesis of the MGTOW movement.
