It’s time to start speculating about Donald Trump’s vice presidential pick
The Washington Post ^ | February 23, 2016 | Chris Cillizza

On "Morning Joe" Tuesday morning, host Mika Brzezinski threw out an interesting theory: Donald Trump and Marco Rubio are playing nice with one another — and savaging Ted Cruz — because a backroom deal has been cut between the two to form a ticket with Trump as the presidential nominee and the Florida senator as the second in command.

I don't think that deal has been cut. But Brzezinski's speculation did get me to thinking about whom Trump might pick as his vice president. (For those of you who think such speculation is premature, I say (1) it sort of is and (2) read this.)

As much as I like Sarah Palin, I think there would be too many distractions, and a ticket with two former reality show stars (in spite of their other accomplishments) is just a little too much.

The columnist suggests Nikki Haley, and it makes sense in may ways.

Actually I was thinking Giulina in order to win New York in the general election plus Rudi is a proven executive.

I highly doubt that he would even consider the slime boy Rubio.

Remember, Sarah Palin is a close advisor & Rubio stabbed both her and the Tea Party in the back in 2010.

No way Rubio would be the pick. It destroys all of Trumps outsider status and make it look like he “needs” an establishment type. He might pick someone who has only been a politician for a while but I don’t think he’ll pick a professional politician like Cruz or Rubio.

Palin is “damaged goods”.....what the media hasn’t been able to accomplish, she’s wrapped up with her own (and the kids’) foibles.

Possibly Rubio. Cruz would be mistake, it’d cost Trump Indy and crossover support.

I think Huckabee would make a good VP.

And why do you think Trump does?

It’ll be Rubio.

I think it’s going to be Rubio as a sop to the GOPe. It’s all about the “art of the deal,” after all.

Rudy’s a quality guy, although poison on FR where purity is demanded.

This year is so crazy it’s anybody’s guess.

I will say this...in 2016 Dems won’t be able to spend zero bucks on campaigning in Illinois and New York like usual.

Listen closely. The Dims will get NY in a cake walk. Thinking they won’t is like them thinking they have a shot at TX.

after the way she screeched when she first gave her endorsement? - no thanks

I could be talked into Carson.....he'd be the "walk Softly" part of the political envoy.

I do wish though, Trump would think before he talks sometimes....some of the stuff coming out of his mouth is unfitting

Someone liberal. I will be shocked if his pick turns out to be a conservative. I do not think people have really been listening to Trump's positions in the past or all of what he is saying now.

This is where he will show his true colors.

I seriously doubt Palin is a “close advisor.”

Trump president, Cruz president of the senate.

Circumvent Mitch McConnell in the senate.

These boyz need to kiss and make up. They could be a powerful combination that would break the back of the establishment in congress.
