In a time where voters believe that all of official Washington is corrupt, the notion of having a president who doesn't owe anybody anything can seem enticing. Besides, many voters concluded long ago that it doesn't matter whether Republicans or Democrats win.
In either case, the political insiders are the real winners and the nation is the loser.
We've seen this storm coming. Three presidents in a row came into office with their party in control of Congress. Each time, unhappy voters expressed their disapproval in midterm elections by putting the other party in charge of congress.
Never before in American history has that happened to even two consecutive presidents.
This is a fundamental rejection of both political parties.
The rise of Donald Trump as the Republican front-runner is another expression of this frustration.

I agree however, Trump on the Apple/ cellphone thing proves he wistfully understand freedom and how evil 0Obama’s true intentions are. The black hut in Utah inhabitants really haven’t used data to find terrorists as much as they simply spy on us, the patriots.

Really disappointed that Cruz jumped on that too. It bespeaks desperation. If members of the moribund KKK vote for Trump it's an endorsement of his policies and beliefs, not theirs.

If America goes down, so do his businesses and he figures the best way for him to stop this is to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, and the place to do that is from the Oval Office...

It took them a 100 years to get this country on the edge, how is it going to turn on a dime....it's not.
The road back is going to be just as long as the road to get here was.
Barring any major upheavals or disasters.
Trump or Cruz will be able to take the first steps, Trump is the apparent winner at this time.

I’m afraid so. You can even say that conservatism hasn’t delivered any enduring conservative goals in the last thirty years.
Over that time, Democrats have delivered on enduring liberal goals.
Something has to change.
And why should we accept what Trump is saying on pure, blind faith?Cruz is an admitted liar why should we accept what Cruz says? When you know someone is a liar because they told you they lied, you never know when they're not lying.
People who lie to you will also steal from you.
Maybe not repudiation of conservatism per se, but the reality of pragmatism. If the ultimate pinnacle of true Conservatism can’t win, then perhaps an alternative is a more realistic solution to saving the country from the likes of Hillary and Sanders. IMOHO
