Jesse Ventura: I’ll Run for President If Bernie Sanders Loses
Daily Beast ^ | 02.29.16 4:30 PM ET

Minneapolis — Jesse Ventura told The Daily Beast he will run for president if Bernie Sanders does not win the Democratic nomination. Ventura was elected the governor of Minnesota as an independent in 1998 after serving as a Navy SEAL and professional wrestler. Ventura said his campaign was so successful at showing an outsider could be elected that Trump and Sanders are “ripping him off.” He bets he can do it again if Sanders loses and the election is Hillary Clinton vs. Trump. “They’re setting the groundwork for me because if Bernie loses, by the time we get to June, how sick are the people going to be of all these people,” he said while dressed in a Jimmy Hendrix shirt under a blazer and SEALs beanie.

“See I’m an independent and I despise the two parties,” Ventura, who speaks as if he is prepared to tackle you, continued. “I love what Trump’s doing to the Republicans. He’s got them in complete disarray. In fact, it looks like the WWE when you watch their debates.” As for who will prevail in the Minnesota caucus tomorrow night, Ventura really could not say. “I support the revolution of what’s happening here,” Ventura said after telling a local that he worked for most “level-headed” news outlet (RT America). “There’s three things where I stand with Bernie on more so than Trump. Number one is campaign is finance reform,” two is “the war,” and three is ending the War on Drugs.

I've been predicting that Trump would pick Ventura for VP.

Not only does Ventura have the governing experience that Trump lacks, but he's about the only candidate that makes Trump look reasonable in comparison.

320 million people in this country and we have all these morons who want to be the president. No wonder we’re in trouble as a country.

Are you really claiming that running a rather large business for several decades doesn’t count as “governing” experience?

How much “governing” experience do Cruz/Rubio have ... combined?

I’m fairly convinced that if Ventura does decide to run he’d pull far more votes away from the democrat nominee than the republican. That’s meant as a percentage, not in terms of actual significant numbers. He’d probably do about as well as Roseanne Barr.

"Are you really claiming that running a rather large business for several decades doesn’t count as “governing” experience?"

Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying.

The two have very little in common. A President doesn't get to tell Congress "You're fired!"

Trump has nothing other than "Yuge Wall" as a policy position (and maybe not even that if the NYT OTR story is true) to offer. That's not anywhere good enough.

By that standard, Dwight Eisenhower had no business being president.

Which of the current candidates DO have “governing experience”?

I’m running out of popcorn. I’ve got to start ordering it in truckloads instead of the bag size.

I don't know, lately things have gotten pretty crazy, and the entertainment value is starting to be replaced by the disgust factor. I've been avoiding the news lately in favor of binge watching old "Peter Gunn" TV shows on YouTube instead. At least I can follow the story there.

When the Repubs nominate somebody, I'll vote for them, but this election seems to be turning into a snuff flick where the party I support have formed themselves into a circular firing squad. Somebody let me know if there's anybody still standing after the smoke clears, 'K?

"By that standard, Dwight Eisenhower had no business being president."

Are you really comparing the D-Day invasion to Trump's businesses?!?

Governor is probably the best preparation for President (and my first choice was Walker), but time in the senate at least gives one experience with the massive bureaucracy.

In any event, my objection to Trump is based on his long history as a liberal, and his increasing comments of a fascist nature.

Being a legislator does not prepare one for operating a massive bureaucracy.

“At least he Jesse didn’t dodge the draft.”

No, he merely dodged serving in Vietnam. While that blowhard claimed he was a SEAL, he was screwing hooker in the PI as a UDT member when all he had to do is say he wanted a SEAL rotation in Vietnam and he would have been there by sundown. So while SEALs were dying in Vietnam he played it safe and stayed UDT in the PI.
