Trump University Plaintiff Seeks To Withdraw From Suit, Fearing Public Trial
TPM ^ | March 8, 2016 | ELLIOT SPAGAT

Tarla Makaeff has had enough of Donald Trump after spending six years fighting him in court.

The Southern California yoga instructor wants to withdraw from a federal class action lawsuit that says Trump University fleeced students with an empty promise to teach them real estate. Her lawyers said the Republican presidential front-runner and his team have put her "through the wringer" and made the prospect of a trial unbearable. A judge will consider the request Friday, four days before Florida and Ohio hold their primaries.

Trump's attorneys say the lawsuit should be dismissed if Makaeff is allowed to withdraw, arguing that their trial strategy centers on her. They deposed her four times and identify her as "the critical witness" in a court filing.

Legal firms can make good money referring clients to class action litigators. Good return for them with minimal cost or work.

You morons need to look into the mirror. Trump in his own words says he never settles a case which we all know from recent court sessions he has been in he absolutely does settle. Well, which is it? Does he settle or not? If he does he is a liar.

Trump settles cases, he does not deny that. Specifically in this case he said he will not settle, that he would rather give the money to the lawyers. He has done this several times, that is fought a charge where he could have settled cheaper. He has won most of them.

Historically the person or organization that wins civil cases are the ones that have the most money to bully the opposition with lawyers. Exactly what he has done on this university fiasco whether he was right or wrong.

Too bad the gal does not have the moxie to stick it out, she could get some positive PR this fall and quite possibly walk away with a sizable settlement.

“I didn’t know a lawyer could sell their case to someone else (ethically) but I gather it’s routine in these class action cases. “

Go watch “Erin Brocovich.”

Is Tarla Makaeff's old blog something that can be posted to FR? It's got some interesting entries such as her support for the ACLU. I'm going to assume the ACLU has Trump on their enemies list and her lawsuit may have been influenced by that.

You could post some excerpts but I wouldn’t create a separate thread for her blog. Good find though. Sounds like politics may be more of a motivation than has been reported.

Sounds like she is one of those serial lawsuit filers.

She is trying to get out before her lies are exposed. LOL

***Sounds like she is one of those serial lawsuit filers.***

Serial lawsuit filers reminded me of an ex patient when I worked at a mental hospital. He signed on to any class action product lawsuit that came up. For most of them you only had to affirm you used the product.

I remember he signed on to the one for Siding that fell apart, for aluminum wiring, for some plumbing pipe that leeched out something when hot water was run through it. It was a source of income for him.

He’d probably still be doing it if he hadn’t died. No, he didn’t die of mesothelioma.

I am glad to hear that he doesn’t settle. IMO, all these large corporations and institutions settling with baiters are what has made it difficult for the rest of us, the “little people” to fight encroaching PC.

People like Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and Medea Benjamin make their living by shaking down corporations. Pure Alinsky tactics. Dinesh d'Souza's latest and very excellent book, Stealing America: What My Experience with Criminal Gangs Taught Me about Obama, Hillary, and the Democratic Party, explains in detail many of the disgusting scam shakedown techniques pioneered by Alinsky.
