Don’t need a study, just common sense.
What stops a bad guy with a gun? A good guy with a gun.
Add to that, the fact that armed private citizens are are less likely to shoot the wrong person than cops (there are studies on that...) and the fact that firearm accident fatalities are virtually nonexistant compared to the number firearms and Bob’s your uncle.
IIRC, there has been at least one study showing that CCW's are less likely to "do a bad shoot" than a cop.
We should start a “can suck it”list.I’m sure everyone here can each add a few candidates to the list.
Most of the time, the threat runs off when they see the person is armed. That is likely 95% of the time.
Range time and training become key in that final 5%.
Awareness of surroundings and ability to avoid the situation in the first place should be the first priority.
Garbage. No stats to back this up. Barring the very rare exception, concealed carriers are overwhelmingly safe and law-abiding whether they have a permission slip from the government or not. Besides, driver’s ed and licensing doesn’t prevent ~50K annual motor vehicle deaths.
It’s illegal to shoot someone without cause, so no studies are needed.
Uh, the “United States Concealed Carry Association” sells insurance to concealed carry license holders. I “think” they may just have an ax to grind monetarily here.
Yeah, I know.
I was mocking their “study”
;^)
IIRC, there is at least one study that shows CCW holders are more law-abiding than cops - CCW holders are probably better vetted.
Training is always a good thing but is not and must not be a prerequesite to keeping and bearing arms. Personally, I would institute mandatory firearms training in all K through 12 schools in the U.S. along with mandatory instruction on the Constitution, but not as a requirement to own or carry a gun.
yep...most of the thugs in Chicago have no firearms training, which is WHY we need to be packing, to defend ourselves.
Seeing how trained police officers can make mistakes..... is a logic fallacy known as a straw man.
The VAST majority of law enforcement officers have very little training annually and often only have to qualify vs paper targets.
Just look at the complete carnage in Vermont, Arizona, Alaska, Texas,...
“Bloomburg and his toads wasted a LOT of money here. It didnt work.”
Just goes to show that W. Virginians are smarter than voters here in Washington State.
Notice how “hidden” is a dog-whistle word to bias the reader. What, do we think the Sun Times would be in favor of open carry? No, they just stick the word “hidden” in there to load their article with emotion.
So I suppose the Sun Times has always supported gun safety training for school children? If not, they can’t complain if untrained people carry guns.
I'd like to present the sponsor of HB41454, Del. Saira Blair. She was elected to the House of Delegates in 2014.
Yes, that's a current picture.
;'}
Perhaps. I think more likely that the anti-gunners tried a new tactic that the gun-rights people hadn't encountered before and didn't really know how to block (yet). To be seen is whether the same tactic works in other states, and for future anti-gun crusades in Washington (personal disclosure..I live in Washington, but plan to move (back) South in the two-year-out timeframe...probably to Texas).
BTW, any of you Texans have suggestions for small towns in the College Station, Temple, Waco general area??
A voice of reason. Thanks.
Seriously, Chicago Times is going to tell us how to regulate guns? The Murder Capital of the USA? Next someone is going to get a hooker to school us on abstinence. The lesson I get from Chicago, Detroit, Washington D.C., et al is don’t put democrats in charge.
