Ted Cruz: Closet Pentecostal
East Orlando Post ^ | March 11, 2016 | Jacob Engels

Posted on 03/11/2016 7:15:16 AM PST by freedomjusticeruleoflaw

While Ted Cruz proudly proclaims he is an Evangelical Christian, his campaign takes pains to hide the truth that Cruz and his pastor father, Rafael Cruz are Pentecostal Christians, a fact further hidden by having Ted and Heidi Cruz’s belong to the congregation of First Baptist Church, a Southern Baptist church in Houston, as their home church. Both Cruz’s parents, his father Rafael a Cuban-born immigrant, and his mother Eleanor, born in Wilmington, Delaware, grew up in Catholic families. Both were among the millions of that left the Catholic Church since the 1960s to embrace Pentecostalism, a Christian movement estimated to make up 4.4 percent of the U.S. population, accounting for some 13 percent of evangelical churches in the United States. - See more at: http://eastorlandopost.com/ted-cruz-closet-pentecostal#sthash.M95M8HTV.dpuf

How do you know Cruz doesn’t tithe? Are you monitoring his income?

Perhaps Cruz needs to have a re-version back to the Catholic faith of his childhood.

Drudge headlines a blog in a haystack story... I have to wonder why.

I'm still not sure exactly who are "evangelicals" in terms of denomination.

I think it means a subset of Protestants, although Catholics certainly proclaim the Gospel.

I think it doesn't mean Mormons or Messianic Jews.

I think it includes Baptists and Methodists, but maybe not Episcopalians.

This term gets thrown around a lot on TV, but is very poorly defined considering the amount of airtime the topic gets on political shows.

Oh, and if doesn’t, it’s not your business, it’s between him and God.

The old, "Eewwww!!..He's too Christian" criticism that pops up on this supposedly God centered forum so often.

Just curious, does anyone know of any online forums where Christians are still welcomed these days?

What, exactly, are you getting at? That their Christian beliefs are pertinent to his race for president? Really?

The Assemblies of God considers themselves a Pentecostal movement. Charismatic usually refers to a movement within a non-Pentecostal founded church (e.g. Charismatic Catholics, Charismatic Lutherans) or a movement or denomination that came out of a non-Pentecostal based church.

I consider running as the pious choice to be a dangerous course.

Ok, does Ted tithe? Nope

So, how do you know this? Please prove your assertion err, accusation. Watch your sources, too, please, sir. Just because something is on the internet does not make it true.

Sure this didn't come from DU or Kos ?

I figured that it needed some discussion mocking. ...Just say what you really mean.

Drudge mocking Ted Cruz, his father, their Christian religion, their Christian followers just like they do at the Godless liberal websites.

Pretty pathetic.

I am a Roman Catholic. I am voting for him regardless of his denomination because Ted Cruz is the most conservative of the candidates on the ballot.

If he gets the nomination, terrific, if not I am voting for the Republican nominee. We must stop Hillary and we must at least have a semi-rational person who can be swayed into appointing somewhat conservative judges and not flaming liberals.

Pentecostals embrace all of the Spiritual Gifts.

I knew there was something a little off about Ted and his religious persona.

I am not saying there is anything wrong with Pentecostal religion. I had a relative in the mid 1950s who spoke in tongues and believed she could raise someone from the dead.

It is just that this religion is a little different than the mainstream religion. Now I get why I got that different type of vibe from him.

Because he is gay? Trump appalling because of it? What I do know for sure is that he has stooped to a new low.

In the Museum of Really Lame Religious Attacks, this one will appear on a pedestal near the front door.
