Yes, I know some people have said that he’s anointed to some task, that God is working through him. Is that a bad thing? Don’t Christians want to receive the Lord’s anointing, to have the Lord work through us?
We all can practice what we want.
Once again, the issue is not the right to practice.
The issue is Americans should have the right to know, so we can

Do Matt Drudge is saying that Cruz is “the Anointed One”? Why would he make such a statement? That’s absurd.
To my knowledge, nobody other than Drudge has called him that.
I have watched the entire video twice, and nowhere does anyone call Ted Cruz “The Anointed One.”
