Cruz: Trump Campaign Bears Responsibility For Creating Environment Encouraging Violence
Washington Free Beacon ^ | 3-11-2016 | Aaron Kliegman

Republican presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz (R., Texas) said Friday night that primary frontrunner Donald Trump’s campaign is responsible for creating an environment that encourages violence after a Trump rally was cancelled because clashes broke out when protestors entered the event.

Speaking at a press conference, Cruz told reporters he “thinks a campaign bears responsibility for creating an environment [of violence]. When the candidate urges supporters to engage in physical violence, to punch people in the face, the predictable consequence of that is that it escalates.”

Isn’t Cruz supposed to be the defender of the Bill of Rights? Is that only in theory? It seems that the first time he had the chance to ACTUALLY DO IT, he demurred. Cruz 2016? Nah, I’ll keep my freedom to assemble and freedom of speech thank you very much.

Can you imagine that Ted wants every voter to hear his words. I guarantee you by tomorrow after noon when the drama settles and it turns to freedom of speech rights, Ted will regret being stupid. Constitutional scholar? Not!!!!!

This is nothing, the next 4 days are going to be non stop. cruz has thrown in with the party elite, both gopE and dems, and the msm will pull out all the stops. If they can keep Trump from winning Ohio and potentially Florida, the will get the brokered convention. That is the goal and they mean to achieve it at any cost. cruz has again shown us who he is.

Wow, this is really a weasel response. I saw Cruz being interviewed about what happened, and he immediately started talking about himself and his campaign. The more I see of Cruz, the less I like him. Talk about a typical politician.

The Democrat Establishment was in deep stuff at the beginning of October 1968 with George Wallace polling at 21 percent as the third party hurting Dems in the South and with working class whites in the North.

To get Humphrey up to beating Nixon, the Dems had the union bosses strong arming workers about Wallace and the anti-war militants disrupting the Wallace rallies.

Wallace ended up at 14 percent in the election and Humphrey almost beat Nixon.

Is history repeating itself?????

Ted was the only candidate I had supported. Even though the dollar amount was small, I felt I had some skin in the game. Ted and the others have shown Move On and the left we will capitulate and turn on our own.

Tuesday, I’m voting Trump.

That's one of the things that finally turned me off about Ted. If you simply listen to him, you can come away thinking he's the most consistent conservative since Ronaldus Magnus.

But....

Every time he gets an opportunity to put his backbone where his mouth is, he chokes. He doesn't seem to have learned as a kid, that sounding cool, doesn't make one cool. You have to actually be the real deal to earn the rep, and everyone around you knows it. Talk is cheap, and posers soon get outed for what they really are.

Sadly, I've seen all that with Ted and more. It's very disappointing, because I really thought he'd be the real deal. He isn't.

Cruz appears stupider by the day, and I’m a Cruz supporter. He should be all over these leftists, not Trump.

Transcript of “Ted Cruz: Donald Trump is Responsible for What Happened in Chicago!” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pmxBp4IFe_I

... be here and energy were seeing on the ground at the grassroots enthusiasm. What we’re seeing we’re seeing republicans unifying behind our campaign. We’re seeing republicans coming together. This race has become a two-person race between me and Donald Trump more republicans are unified behind our campaign.

And I also want to mention something about the events this evening. This is a sad day. Political discourse should occur in the country without a threat of violence. Without anger and rage and hatred directed each other. We need to learn have disagreements without being disagreeable. To have disagreements while respecting human being on the other side.

Earlier today over 30 people were arrested at one rally and then tonight as violence broke out the rally was cancelled altogether.

Now responsibility for that lies with protesters who took violence into their own hands.

But any campaign responsibility responsibility starts at the top. Any candidate is responsible for the culture of the campaign. And when you have a campaign that disrespects the voters, when you have a campaign that affirmatively encourages violence, when you have a campaign that is facing allegations of physical violence against members of the press, you create an environment that only encourages this sort of nasty discourse.

(reporter question - not clear)

I think that decision should be based on public safety.

But I think it campaign bears responsibility for creating an environment. When the candidate urges supporters to engage in physical violence have punch people in the face the predictable consequence of that is that it escalates and today is unlikely to be the last such instance. We saw earlier today in St. Louis over 30 arrested. That’s not how our politics should occur.

You know the city of Chicago in 1968 saw some ugly days when politics descended into hatred and instability and even violence and it is my hope that in 2016 that we can appeal to our better angels avoid going down that road once more.
