As long as Trump gets clobbered by Kasich in Ohio, I am happy. Latest Fox News poll has Kasich up by 5 points over Trump, and Kasich has a vastly superior ground game in his own state, where he was won as governor twice, than Trump will ever have even if he went and lived in Ohio.

Blaming the person who had his First Amendment rights taken away for the actions of the people infringing on his rights, as Cruz undeniably did, is just about the furthest from “standing with the First Amendment” I can imagine a person doing. You in your post are also accusing Trump of what the leftists did to him—just as the leftists blame women raped by Muslims in Europe on the women victims because of their clothing. Since Cruz blamed the victim in this instance, too many others feel that it is fine to do so too, instead of putting the blame on those who denied Trump’s right to be heard under the Constitution. Hypocritical Cruz supporters who want to excuse the thought police and oppression of dissent (which is what blaming Trump for what was done to him does) in this country are starting to make me feel ill. I will never again take seriously the claim that Cruz is a defender of the Constitution.

And no, Trump has oppressed no one’s free speech. Trump rents these venues. The disruptors do not have any right to invade the event he’s paying for to try to stop him from speaking, any more than I would have a right to hold a protest in a house someone is renting. There are places outside for protestors to be heard at every single Trump rally. The only free speech issue here is the leftists’ infringement on Trump’s First Amendment rights. It is unfortunate that some people’s blind hatred of Trump will not allow them to see this, so they join forces with the radical leftists and the MSM in making the same sort of illegitimate attacks on Trump instead.

He is not responsible for the fascists’ choice to riot. He had a rally. They rioted. He exploited that, but they decided to riot. That is not incitement by any stretch, and if they want to riot, they should expect their behavior to be exploited.

Who ever called Carson a “psychopath”? Trump most certainly never did. He did, however, quote from Carson’s autobiography where Carson himself said he had “pathological” anger issues, which does not in any way suggest insanity, regardless of your false claim.

“I think Trump chose a venue he knew, or should have known, would create an environment where it was likely a riot would occur.”

There’s an old Bogart flick where Humphry prints an anti-government newspaper in France and the Vichyists riot and destroy his newspaper, killing his typesetter. Bogart is sentenced to life for inciting the riot and killing the typesetter, because he provoked the rioters into reacting as they did. This is the same bass-ackwards logic.

BTW, I liked Ted Cruz, and was all for him. I would love to hear his explanation, and hope it will exonerate him. But this line of reasoning is not valid.

He trusted Rahm and the Chicago PD when they said they had it under control. His supporters trusted him to provide a save venue for the rally and he put them in harm's way.

People around here need to grow the hell up!

In this country there is NO EXCUSE for committing violence because of what someone else SAID.

The only exception to that law is when what’s said triggers the statutes governing self defense.

Period!

False.

The libs said the same exact thing in 1980.

Same thing.

Reagan could win, Cruz can win.

First, he was not defending them.

Second, if you don’t think the inflammatory rhetoric of Trump is not at least a factor in this mess, you need to take a step back and evaluate a little more what is going on around you.

See my 486. You are again blaming him, this time for Rahm’s choice to fail to perform his civic duty as mayor. He’s the one to hold accountable, not Trump, who had reason to trust Rahm’s false promises. All mayors and police forces are charged with keeping the peace under all circumstances in their jurisdiction.

BTW, I neither like nor trust Trump. But your reasoning is flawed.

No. YOU need to educate yourself on what the legal standards for employing violence are in this country.

If any of you Cruzbots went before a judge with the crap you're trying to hang on Trump you'd be thrown out of court.

Do you think he'd have moved his newspaper offices to a safer location if he could have easily done so?

We had people right here on FR predicting it would end badly. I don't think anybody here would have trusted Rahm, what reason did Trump have to do it?

What if he was just doing it to get in the Vichyists’ face? That’s not incitement. Provocation, yes. But in a mature democracy such as France or the United States, people are expected to tolerate dissent, and not to respond to it with violent outbursts. Answering argument with violence is one element of fascism. Trump is not responsible for the fascist mob or or the feckless mayor and police. They did this, not him.

What Trump is responsible for is putting his supporters into the middle of that mob, knowing the mob fas fascist, and the mayor and police were feckless.

Canadians don't have the same understanding of the Bill of Rights as (most) natural born Americans. Nor do Cubans.

Kasich's only excuse is whatever his bosses told him.
