No, we cannot know. My judgment and what I know of the man tells me to run away from him. However, I want to believe he means what he says and is not just playing to the crowd. I hope you are correct; I am trying to give him every chance to convince me. The GOP establishment must think he means it. They went from preferring Trump over Cruz, to the opposite stance, and they know Cruz will not be friendly to them, no matter who he hires.
There are plenty of reasonable defenses of Trump that have been posted on FR.
But you would not, and frankly could not admit it if you read one.

After listening to Rush for many, many years, I recently had to stop listening to him completely. He has changed drastically, and seemingly "gone off the deep end".
I've been reading about "Alzheimer's Disease", and have found it interesting that one of the ways people first start to suspect Alzheimer's in someone they know very well is when their morality (including their basic honesty and integrity) begin to change radically (or even disappear).
Not sure what is up with Rush, but it is definitely not good.

It’s certainly a piece of the puzzle. If politics is your interest you follow it like most people do sports.
You volunteer on campaigns, you donate what you can to the candidates and causes that you back. And of course you vote. Rush did none of this until he was 37 years old. He’s a gifted broadcaster, but he was never in the trenches with the rest of us. It’s worth keeping in mind.

I’ve been a listener since the 80’s down in Florida WIOD I think it was. I never heard him do all this covert anti-Trump whispering on a candidate before all the while saying he doesn’t endorse anyone. I’m still a Fan but I’m also a big 1st amendment Guy too.
I wonder if the folks closest to him are pointing out to him the changes in the way he’s being perceived. Often celebrities surround themselves with sycophants maintaining a cocoon of silence. But clearly something has changed.
