Complete rot. First he had them raise their hand to swear. When the new president raises his had to be sworn in do they say it's "reminiscent of the Nazi salute"? And second, he didn't have them swear "allegiance". He had them swear they would vote. Not vote for Trump, just vote.

Yep - wish more folks here would do what you did and actually read the articles before commenting - most see the headline, read a comment or two from other FReepers who haven't read the article, them come out swinging as if they know what the hell is going on.

Just for the record, if Ted Cruz was to shoot somebody randomly in the streets of Texas, I would not vote for him either. Not that I believe Cruz would actually do that but I felt it was important to get that out there - just in case he did.

Love it! Cruz had a funny statement, but it would only be funny in the proper setting - like some buddies hanging out and having a beer together - not on the "big stage".

Evil is evil. And one is not worse than the other.

I’ll differ with you on a couple of you points but not the overall.....

However, we differ here, you stated: “Plan did not fail”

I disagree, it should state “Plan was executed”

At the end of the day, we will know if it failed or succeed....

I’ll believe it when I see it! He is all in for the GOPe brokered convention.

Exactly. Cruz is just maintaining his anti-establishment facade. He’s got the win at all costs knives out in the background.

MESSAGE TO CRUZ: Offer to give Trump your delegates in return for the Vice Presidency.

But Cruz favors a contested convention, right?

I used my regular search engine. I typed in, ‘cruz favors contested convention.’ I got more hits than I could count. The few I checked featured direct quotes from Cruz.

He said he supports a contested convention.

That staying home crap got us Obama

At this point taking down the GOP establishment in a blaze of flaming excrement is the greater long-term goal IMO.

Eric Trump was on FOX & Friends this morning and stated how he loved his Dad to pieces.

You don’t see that too often anymore.

I've always had Trump as my 2nd choice. Would prefer Cruz, but could live with Trump. He's a better alternative than most of the crapweasles we've been handed over the years and told to vote for ... or else.

Regarding the quip about Trump shooting someone... my support would depend upon whether he was doing so in defence of self or property. I'd say the same thing about Cruz. :-)

You are correct
He says he wants to win.
If he doesn’t win AND Trump does not have the number of votes to win then he would support a contested convention as opposed to a brokered convention.
He has spoken out a number of times about usurping the will of the people, and that includes Trump.

He had said of no one has the required delegates to win, then it should come down to the candidates people voted for, which means Trump or Cruz.

But how do you know when Cruz is telling the truth?

‘Ted Cruz flatly rejected the idea of a contested convention on Friday at CPAC, warning that it would lead to a “manifest revolt” against Republican establishment figures who have floated the idea as a last-ditch vehicle to stop front-runner Donald Trump.’

I think he has said no to brokered convention. By definition if someone does not have enough delegates it is a contested convention.

His point is, instead of trying to team up to stop Trump go out and get the votes.

In fact reread the link you put in your rebuttal. Where does Ted Cruz say he supports a contested convention. That is the exporters comments. Look at Cruz direct quote.

Your explanation satisfies you, and no doubt would satisfy 99.9% of Cruz supporters. Me, I am fed up with Cruz having it both ways. I went back and read the Senate speech he gave in support of his amendment. Twice he says, with uttermost sincerity and earnestness, that he wants the Gang of Eight bill to pass. Twice.

Later, after Trump began talking wall and deportation, Cruz claimed everything he said in that Senate speech was a lie. He actually did that.

Well if he’s telling the truth about lying, here’s the bottom line. He’s TOO good at lying. He’s too smooth, too convincing, too natural. I don’t want a president who can stand before 99 colleagues and lie better than Bill Clinton at his all time best. It’s just not an option.
