Obama Not Serious About SCOTUS Pick

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Nah, Obama doesn't even expect this judge to get a hearing. He's too old, folks. If Obama was serious about the pick, he'd have nominated somebody much younger that's gonna be on the court, I mean, decades. Merrick Garland is 63. He sounds like a nice guy. And you know the fix is in when we've got people telling us, "Hey, you know what? This guy could really satisfy a bunch of conservatives."

Come on, folks, could we get real? You know, this is where it all starts to break down. I've been watching conservatives on TV, some of them, not a lot, but some saying, "You know what? Obama's made a genuine compromise pick here. This is gonna be really problematic for the Republicans 'cause this is a guy that they could get behind. This guy is closer to Scalia than he is farther from Scalia." I'm watching this with my mouth open. (laughing) I don't know how to react to this. Who are we talking about here?

Mitch McConnell's already gone out there and said they're gonna invoke the "Biden Rules," which means, sorry, nothing happening this year because it's a presidential year, and they are the Biden Rules 'cause Biden set them. No presidential confirmation hearings on Supreme Court nominees during the last year of a president's second term. Isn't happening. And that's what they're gonna rely on. Now, we have to trust that they will not cave somewhere down the line. And what are the odds of that? Now, come on, intelligence guided by experience, you think the odds are better than normal that they will not cave in the Republican Senate? Okay. We'll see.

I watched Garland’s rollout this morning and actually felt sorry for the guy. Is he smart enough to realize that 0 is just using him?

Merrick Garland is apparently closer in his views to Elena Kagen than any other SCOTUS Justice.

I don’t know any conservative who would be satisfied with an anti-2nd amendment Scotus pick.

Not a single one.

Who in their right mind would even allow themselves to be nominated in this situation? Oh, wait... I think I see the answer right there in my question.

“This guy is closer to Scalia than he is farther from Scalia.”

LOL! He clerked for Brennan, a radical leftist hero. You can bet your bottom dollar Garland is cut from the same cloth.

If a Dem wins in Nov, I expect Garland to be confirmed shortly after. He’s likely the best that could be expected going forward. So he’s got a shot at the job. Then again he may have a sudden “health problem” and have to withdraw.

He worked in the Clinton administration so maybe Hillary would want him confirmed. Of course she would probably prefer to have a vacancy which she could fill with a young female leftist belonging to some non-white ethnic group.

If a Dem wins in Nov, there’s a good possibility the Senate will flip to Dem also.

Then the next POTUS could go hard core lefty on 3 or 4 picks coming up in the next term.

perhaps not BUT the gope IS very serious about capitulating to his choices even if he’s not serious- that is the danger!

If Dems win either the White House or the Sinate, Garland will be withdrawn and a young doctrinaire Communist (e.g. Kamala Harris) will be inserted.

To the extent that Obama has any transcendent faith, its cornerstone sacrament is infanticide. There is simply no way he would not nominate an anti-genocide jurist.
