I’m not sold on the idea that Cruz is a conservative who respects the constitution. It’s a gut feeling but I can’t shake it.
Caller, Cruz has not “done it”. What successes can he point to other than court cases where he was paid to represent a certain side.

Rubio is a strong conservative based on a speech? That’s the problem with people picking our leaders by who gives a “great speech”. A great speech translates to NOTHING!

Rush is so butthurt that Kasich won Ohio and Trump beat Cruz everywhere else, even barely in his home state Missouri. Remember Rush having secret meetings with Fox and Schumer and Rubio than going on radio acting like it never happened.

Exactly. He’s a self interested career politican. All his conservatism is self serving to advance his career. As Texas solicitor general he punted on one of the biggest gay rights cases in modern times because it might have hurt his electability.
And to be honest, Newt was a hell of a better debater than Cruz.
Rush going on and on that Cruz is such a great debater the best ever. Yet we’ve had like 12 debates and by and large the primary voters dont like him. Trumps support is on actual issues and rush pretends we’re all dumb reality show fans. Why is Cruz suddenly taking a tax on imports and building the wall?

Don’t know how much of a shill Rush is but he certainly does not understand what many of us are looking for in this campaign. He thinks it’s conservative vs. liberal. It’s not. It’s us vs. them. And we are totally ticked off at what has transpired in the name of “conservatism”. Our off year election victories were squandered and even submarined by the elite conservatives.

Those ever so polished debate skills need to be unlearned. They are so rehearsed, he looks like a puppet and sounds like Al Gore going into his final debate with W.
They are not really debates when Cruz uses a question on Cuba to attack Trump donating to Democrats. They are media events for Cruz to dump his slime buckets. No surprise Trump said enough.
And I'll repeat, Newt - who has a smooth, nice speaking voice - is a far greater debater than nasal-voiced, oleaginous Cruz. Where did it get Newt? Who at least was entertaining and highly intellectual in other subjects besides the law.
