AZ - 58 delegates (Winner Take All)
UT - 40 delegates (Proportional, WTA > 50%)
Cruz should have done far better than 22% in AZ. He is not terribly far off from Trump on immigration in the grand scheme, except for amnesty dabbles and H1B’s. They would have made a nice pair had it not gotten so acrimonious.

Most of my voting life I lived in Oregon, and by the time I got off work, the election had already been called and “my vote didn’t matter.” I usually voted anyway.

Because you can’t be nominated without winning eight States majority delegates. Heard they may lower it to five.
Another reason is because Trump and Cruz are the front runners.
I see Two scenarios
1) Trump gets 1237. Game over. He is nominee.
2) Trump gets 1150 Cruz gets 900 Others get 400 (just an example)
In that case nominating Cruz would be legit (except to Trump of course)

With AZ, he still slides another 18 delegates behind Trump, and what plays in Utah doesn’t play in the rest of the country.
Considering NY and NJ have yet to vote and probably would vote for a fluffy white dog over Cruz, there’s no way he’ll get 1237 after tonight. Even if he tries to stuff his supporters into the delegate count, the establishment will use him and toss him aside because they’re much better at it than him.

Cruz is not a natural born citizen.
You have to not just win 8 states, but have a majority delegation from 8 states. At best Ted will have 5 after tonight.
And if the convention goes open, look for rule changes on day 1. They are already plotting.
It’s a long way to Cleveland from here, but from my seat I can’t see a scenario in which Ted can win without an outright delegate majority on arrival.
Look at the non-endorsement endorsements from Romney, Graham, and the like. They are not supporting Ted, they are riding Ted as the only horse left that has any hope of keeping Trump from the outright majority. His prize will NOT be the nomination, that has never been their goal.
