Death of democracy? EU could deploy its own ARMY as migrant crisis deepens

BRUSSELS has been urged to deploy its own armed forces within the EU for the first ever time in a move which would sound the death knell for European democracy.

European leaders are being asked to dispatch troops to Greece - the cradle of democracy - to combat the spiralling migrant crisis.

If the plan is put into action it would be the first ever time that the EU has deployed its own forces, which typically carry out peace missions abroad, within the 28-nation bloc.

But the move could be fiercely opposed by Greece, which would see it as the final nail in the coffin for its democratic government following years of financial suppression at the hands of its Brussels paymasters.

The sight of troops bearing the EU ensign patrolling Greek soil would encapsulate the end of individual member state sovereignty by removing one of the last sacrosanct areas of independence - responsibility for defence of the realm.

Refugee Crisis: Using Chaos to Build Power

Even as EU bureaucrats try to stop any attempts to control immigrants at borders, they say an EU military must be formed to control borders. All their "solutions" expand government.

Last summer merkel and the elites were threatening to use the EU military to force the borders open to refugees, not closed

Indeed. Decentralization/local autonomy is not in the statist bureaucrat's lexicon. Every problem/crisis must be addressed with greater and greater centralized power.

Using your armed forces to secure your borders is “the death of democracy”? What are those fools smoking?

The EU is NOT a country.
Countries within the EU will lose democracy.

The Greeks should review how US military installations effected the local economy in Germany.

Everything had a price tag with tremendous markup.

You want to drive that huge one ton truck down the road???
Well, you do know that road was only designed for bicycles and horse carts.
But not a problem, we review the damage and send an estimate for repairs... $$$

That dirt trail was the South Branch of the Appian Way for Crusaders headed to the Coliseum!

Thats going to cost plenty!

Maybe this was the endgame all along. I wouldn’t doubt that the EU elitist scumbags brought in these migrant terrorist so they could use it as an excuse to form a police state.

Yeah, EU elitists created the crisis and the solution is a EU government and EU army. This was planned out.

Problem-Reaction-Solution.

I think you FReepers should forget about Europe, looks like it will be a powder keg again and you know what maybe this was the plan after all concerning the migrant crisis, to expand EU power.

That’s just it. Troops will likely be used to “control”
the citizens & not the Jihadists.

The EU has no army. Only the armies of the national states. Where does democracy get lost in using those to protect the borders?

OK, noted, never let a crisis go to waste and all that.

But protecting the borders NOW with national armies is what needs to done.

Forming an EU army will take years, if not decades. (And I think many countries will not on board with that scheme, no matter what a Blair or a Juncker “demands”.)
