Wow. That's quite a Rush / Trump story. Thanks for that link, CreviceTool.

I knew Rush and Trump were at least golfing buddies.

The “nutmeg” tipped me off that you were probably in some way connected to CT ...which your home page confirms.

Perhaps our senses of humor align due to that commonality. I was born in New Haven ...parents and older brother all born in New Haven ...paternal grandmother was from the Cornwall Bridge area in western CT. I ended up in NC and VA most of my life ...Dad was a career Marine. I’ve became an adoptive Southerner many decades ago ...now living about 25 miles due south of Richmond.

Connecticut is a beautiful state, though, just don’t think I could handle the politics there these days. Of course, VA has been changing steadily for the worse due to the influx of Leftists into NoVA ...now we have 2 Dem Senators and a Dem Governor ...not looking good for the Old Dominion these days.

‘Take care,

-Geoff

Yes, I chose the name "nutmeg" back in 2000 when I joined FR. I noticed several FReepers back then chose names based on what state they lived in. I was surprised 'nutmeg' wasn't taken!

My husband and I are SO envious! We hope to escape The People's Republik of Connecticut one of these years. We've spent some time (not a lot of time) looking at areas and homes from Virginia to Florida. I've always loved VA, but wish northern VA would secede from The Real Virginia, LOL. At the moment, we are considering SC or GA. But we're not ready to move yet.

I don't have enough time to describe to you how awful CT is politically. Hubby and I and some CT Tea Party groups got involved in local elections in 2010. NEVER again. Despite a LOT of time, effort and $$$ on our part, the moonbats prevailed, when most of the U.S. went Tea Party conservative. Watching the election returns in 2010 was a giant punch in the gut to those of us who worked so hard to try to rid the state of at least SOME of the democRATs.

The only choice for us now is to get our house in order and get the heck out of here within the next few years. MANY people -- including billionaires who contribute lots of tax revenue to CT -- are leaving CT in droves.

You may have heard that General Electric is leaving CT, as are many other small and large businesses. CT is now known as not having a favorable business climate.

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy (D, of course) was fraudulently elected in 2010. On election night 2010, some CT minority voters were supposedly "disenfranchised", so they kept the polls open a couple of hours longer in Bridgeport and New Haven until they found a "bag of votes" that put Malloy over the top. I kid you not.

Malloy has caused a ton of damage since. The state is broke. All CT cities are broke, and are begging for money from CT, which is broke. It's an insane situation.
