Goodell- the man who destroyed football all by his own.

Nobody crucified Tebow. He’s not on the field for the exact same reason Sam’s not. Neither can play well enough.

Tebow's record as a starter is 7 wins, 4 losses.
Tebow threw 17 touchdowns to only 9 interceptions.
Tebow beat my Pittsburgh Steelers in overtime in the playoffs, with a touchdown pass.
Tebow is a slightly shorter, slightly slower, slightly more handsome, slightly less accurate version of Cam Newton, a player the NFL falls all over itself to promote.
Tebow is enough of a physical presence that his inclusion on 2 point conversions would have given Defensive Coordinators everywhere nightmares.

We are to believe that there are 64+ roster spots taken up league-wide by quarterbacks that are so clearly superior to Tim Tebow and his career 75.3 passer rating. I flat out do not buy that lie.

He was black-balled out of the league, and if you cannot clearly see that with the evidence before you, I doublt anything will make you see.

Here is a cane and dark glasses, best wishes to you.

"...The whole thing was clearly a publicity stunt....

I would add that the whole thing was attempted social engineering by the elites in an attempt to force the normalization of homosexuality onto the little people, who BTW rejected it wholly.

They will try again. Their resources are endless.

I'm sorry, is this sarcasm?

Both Sam and Tim tebow were made by the media but both proved not to be NFL material. Enough of putting mediocre players on the pedestal when not deserved.

Tebow’s completion percentage is under 50. Half his games he threw less than 10 passes. Meanwhile the defense that played while he was sitting on the bench cut 13 points a game out their average allowed. Tebow was NOT the reason they won those games, he’s a crappy QB, and they won in spite of him. Same way they just won a SB.

He’s not slightly less accurate than Cam, Cam’s career completion percentage is 59.6, Tebow’s is 47.9. Tebow is DRAMATICALLY less accurate than Cam.

A 75.3 passer ratting is crap. And when couples with the drama that comes with him, he quite simply is not worth it. He has 3rd string talent at best, but his fans whine whenever he’s on the bench.

No blackballed player goes through 5 training camps on 4 teams. If you want to see what a blackballed player looks like look at Ray Rice, nobody has even given him an interview since the judge voided his suspension. Blackballed players simply cease to exist. Tebow keeps getting shots, and keeps proving he does not belong in the league.

Remember all the publicity for a seventh round pick who probably would not make the league. Remember the many pictures of Sam tongue kissing his boyfriend and all the ESPN and other reporters talking how this would be historic. Remember how they called Sam the next Jackie Robinson.

Remember all the praise for Sam and the NFL in the media.

Remember Oprah brought a camera crew to film Sam's every practice.

Roger Goodell has made one bad decision after another.

From the Wells Report to Ray rice to Adrien Peterson to Tom Brady Goodell has been a disaster.

“Yet Tebow was crucified relentlessly !! Where were the silent majority voices then!! :(”

The silent majority is a myth. A more accurate term is “the apathetic majority”.

So are NFL ratings up or down? Everything I have seen says they are supposedly up. I think probably the only two subjects the NFL doesn’t like to have the media talking about is the effect of repetitive brain trauma in a football career and maybe PEDs. Stories like this are probably welcome in the off season, true or not. It’s the most popular entertainment sport by miles. Look around at the general state of culture, it isn’t surprising in my opinion.

The NFL is doing very well. It is popular and fun to watch.

But the individual decisions by Goodell have largely been bad. The confusing rules, the games overseas, the unfair and illogical discipline decisions.

The concussion issues are made worse by lawyers looking for a payday. One good thing Goodell has done is trying to make the game safer.

My position on Tebow: he was blackballed by the league because of his loud, out front Christianity. It made people uncomfortable. "But," you say "Other players talk about god and their faith and prayer all the time and nobody worries about it!" And to that I say you are referring to black players. Apparently the NFL isn't nervous about them because they don't take them seriously. But when a WHITE player says it they do.

Because the NFL leadership is racist. they patronize blacks and chuckle "oh, he talked about God again, isn't that cute?" But when a white player does it they say "oh no, not this stuff. We don't want that to be front and center from someone people will actually take seriously." Racist.

Would love to hear Rodger Goodell address that one.

That’s just it, seems like they aren’t bad if ratings are up. You are saying they are up despite this. But what if they are up because the casual fans likes some of this salacious off-field stuff and doesn’t care about the stuff more dedicated fans generally care about? The NFL definitely wanted more scoring, to my understanding, and I think the casual fan generally equates high scoring with excitement and better entertainment.

Of course 2 of those 3 things aren’t Goodell. He has nothing to do with the rules committee, and NFL overseas goes all the way back to Rozelle (and is actually a good idea, more audience means more players).

WOW!

I didn’t realize Michael Sam:

1. Won the Heisman Trophy.

2. Led his college team to their 2nd National Championship in 3 years.

3. Held the SEC’s all-time records in both career passing efficiency and total rushing touchdowns.

4. Selected in the first round of the draft.

5. Took a 1-4 team to win the AFC and a playoff game against the Steelers.

Sam only wishes!

Most Heisman winners fail in the NFL.
Many college champions fail in the NFL.
Many college record holders fail in the NFL.
Many first round draft picks fail in the NFL.
Some bad QBs teamed up with excellent defenses succeed in spite of themselves in the NFL. One just won the SB with a pathetic performance from the QB and a (well actually about 16) great performance(s) from the defense. It’s a 53 man roster, QBs don’t win alone and Tebow-cultists insistence on giving him all the credit for the wins and studiously ignoring his complete inability to complete passes is sad.

All that I know.

But if Tebow was just taking advantage of a great team backing him up, how come they were 1-4 when he took over and then he took them to the playoffs and won over the Steelers.

If the Broncos were so great anyway, why did they need Tebow to make the playoffs? Couldn’t they have just done it with Orton?

The average points allowed per game for the defense dropped 13 points from the 5 games with with Orton to the games with Tebow. Defenses tend to get better as the season progresses. And remember he “took them” to the playoffs with an 8-8 record, a 3 game losing streak, and 5 games where he threw (THREW mind) 10 or fewer passes. Then in the playoffs a seriously depleted Pittsburgh defense, and then got his ass kicked by the Pats.

They didn’t need Tebow to make the playoffs, they needed the defense to get it together. They could have done it with Orton. But the Tebow cultists were chanting every time Orton threw an in-completion (same thing they did when Tebow was in NY) and Fox finally put him in to shutup the fans then the win streak started, so he stuck with Tebow. But the numbers tell the tale. If Denver’s defense had performed in the beginning of the season the way they did down the stretch Orton goes 4-1 and Tebow never starts. If they’d played down the stretch the way they started Tebow’s under 500, never gets near the playoffs, and even his most ardent admirers might actually admit he was never an NFL caliber QB.
