Since the National Enquirer hit the newsstands I think he is running for his life.

Kasich is in there to control the delegates from OH. The original plan, which Trump foiled, was to have compliant favorite sons control enough delegate slates to throw the nomination to Jeb.

Pure speculation on my part.

The nominee will be decided by the delegates at the convention, almost all of whom started as delegates at their local county conventions. I just don’t see any way the D.C. boys can convince all those delegates to vote for anyone other than Cruz or Trump. Paul Ryan can dance all he wants, suggest all he wants, but that won’t force the delegates to vote for someone they don’t want.

Ah, nice, an anti-Cruz thread disguised as a particularly silly vanity post.

However, he's smart enough to know the establishment will nominate Ryan, Romney or Jeb at a brokered convention - never Cruz.

No, Cruz believes, with good reason, that if Trump can't get to the required number of delegates that he (Cruz) would win on a 2nd or 3rd ballot. Kasich seems to believe the same. That is what is keeping both of them in the race.

1/10 on the attempt to conceal your anti-Trump vanity as something other than what it really is. Been done too many times already in one form or the other, so your lacking in originality here.

"The Most Ghastly Politician To Have Ever Run For President."

I thought Obama, Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Kerry, Dukakus, Mondale, Bernie Sanders, Howard Dean, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackass...I can go on, are FAR worse than ANY Republican nominee in the last 4 decades. However, you are Trump fan and lying and slinging Manhattan sized hyperbole is better than the truth.

Please don't cry about establishment Republicans fighting the core constituents more than democRATs, because that is exactly what you are doing here.

No, He’s running for president and he just might make it.
Ted’s got the ground game and Trump’s not even in this race.

Somebody who’s as good a test taker as Cruz - he must have aced SAT and LSAT - is bright enough to know that he’s delivering the nomination to Ryab Rimney or Jeb by giving them an “open” convention. But someone as calculating as Cruz has to have an angle: I figure the fix is in for Ted as VP on the doomed ticket

GOPe will drop him like a hot potato because of his NBC status. No one wants to open that can of worms.

If no one at 1237 Cruz wins in the second round. Trump still only gets about 1/3 of primary voters support. He is not consolidating the party and cannot. He is old and has no control over his mouth or hands. He is one hair to the right of Hill and they are probably tied on lying.

It really doesn’t matter. If a brokered convention nominates anyone other that Trump, you need to be concerned with Hillary’s VP, because they will be moving into the White House. Don’t worry the GOPe will continue to root in the government graft pig pen. But I will be staying home if the GOPe steals the nomination.

Cruz wouldn’t be doing this to run as VP; he is being played. But after Cruz is used he may be forced to capitulate to the GOPe and do as he’s told.

If Cruz was really wanted to stop the OWR he would team up with Trump. Even if the GOPe put up their favorite rino, a 3rd party Trump/Cruz team would have a real chance of winning and destroy the GOPe.

What am I missing? I haven’t seen anything that will back that up.

He’s running to be President. At this point likely through a contested convention or through Trump finally going too far. Before Trump’s uncalled attacks on his wife, I think Cruz would’ve dropped out/done something to allow Donald to win if it became a brokered convention and outside candidates were introduced, but doubt he’d do that now.

He is running to exhaustion.

If he does not get 1237 on the first ballot, he will get a ‘thank you for playing’ and be sent home.

I doubt a 1237 Trump would selected him.

Ryan, Jeb, Romney certainly wouldn’t.

Cruz’s usefulness will be over.

By not dropping out Cruz shows he's willing to risk a contested convention. That doesn't just mean he's angling to be Jeb, Romney or Ryan's VP. He could also be hoping to win the top slot for himself on the subsequent ballots or to make a deal with Trump for the same thing.
