Stupid in America: Students Are So Bad, Professor Can’t Grade Them
The New American ^ | 29 March 2016 | Selwyn Duke

What does it say when in two days a teacher exhausts the ink in his red pen? Since a nation cannot be “ignorant and free," as Thomas Jefferson put it, it perhaps means we face a threat graver than the Red Menace.

Apathetic or even hostile students, dumbed-down tests, often incompetent and ideologically driven teachers, Cracker Jack-box degrees, morally toxic curricula, revisionist history, the new math — education has collapsed in America. And one of the sincere educators, wandering amidst the rubble, recently provided a window into this academic apocalypse.

The truth is that teachers themselves are uneducated at this point.

Universities now have vanity grading.

The average grade at Harvard is A-.

Colleges also allow students to rate the professors. Those not handing out good grades get slammed and might not be asked to return.

But, the Professors make the big bucks.

What is the problem?

Just one more dollar of debt that Santa Bernie can write off.
This will make the bank bail out look like a lemonade stand.

My retirement savings might last a month.

The problem of inability to read, and utilize proper grammar was a big problem even in the early 90’s.

I see it on the forums a lot when the language used for a person is a ‘’that’’ instead of a who, or whom.

Its visible when people don’t know the difference between hear and here, or They’re, Their, and There. Too, To and Two are real mind benders, aren’t they?

Why do we need Marxists to teach our children. There are pretty smart and entreprenurial people that have created software programs that teach, evaluate, and assist students in STEM related information. Traditional Education is DEAD!

I’ve run into this sometimes with my own kids - such an overwhelming level of incoherence that I don’t know where to start. Usually it required going back to a single basic skill. Write a single paragraph. If that’s too much, write three sentences in sequence. Do basic calculations with positive and negative numbers, page after page of them. Day after day of adding and subtracting fractions, until it sticks. Finally.

It took me five years of homeschooling as an adult to overcome twelve years of public school as a child.

Look at the crap I used to write on FR back when I joined in 2009. Can’t believe I used to know that girl.

An ignorant poplar is easier to manipulate.

Look at the young morons supporting Bernie. They have no knowledge of the history of Marxism and no ability to critically evaluate the absurd promises of Bernie’s campaign.

Instead of thought the young are taught to use personal attacks (racism, phobia of the day) to attack opponents, or result to screaming or outright violence.

I thought all those things were signs of illiteracy, until I got a smartphone comma and found that the autocorrect was turning all sorts of correct words into incorrect words. And they slip through sometimes.

They took away rote memory learning many moons ago. Too “boring” and “hard” for helicoptered special snowflakes.

I can’t tell you how many 30-somethings answer the phone “this is HER.”

That cuts both ways. It helps weed out profs who are incompetent or total assholes. The students are paying for the professor's time to get quality instruction. The assholes are easy to spot. They don't get enough students signing up for their classes to justify retention.

Education isn’t getting worse, really. The raw materials are getting worse. Most of those people do not belong in universities.

American education is rapidly getting worse.

Hmmm, Go ask any High School Student and they will tell you how smart they are and how good they feel. Does it really matter that they can not spell their own Names and Addresses?

It might be bad professors. But it might also be professors expecting college students to perform at a reasonable level of competence.
