I still don’t understand why you are convinced he will govern like a moderate republican just because he accepted help from guys like Jeb Bush. Reagan took the support of the establishment that didn’t want him in either 1976 or 1980. He didn’t cave in to them. Why does Cruz have to abandon him convictions? IMO he doesn’t. Why can’t those guys still dislike Cruz, but decide he’s better than Trump? Why can’t the establishment types believe the polling data that Trump will lose in a landslide of epic proportions in November, taking down many house and senate candidates with him?

It is possible for both Cruz and the moderate republicans to have a common interest without Cruz needing to cut a secret deal. The logic I just stated makes perfect sense. You as a Trump supporter don’t believe he will lose in a landslide. But the polling data says he will. And if the establishment guys believe it, then backing Cruz is completely logical. I see zero evidence that Cruz will moderate his views. You assume he will, by who he gets support from. I prefer the simple analysis that Cruz and the establishment have a common interest in stopping Trump. No more, no less.

Different dynamic. Reagan wasn't campaigning against the Washington cartel. He was campaigning for conservatism and against liberalism. His campaign and later his administration was stacked with conservatives. Cruz's campaign isn't stacked with conservatives. It's stacked with liberal to moderate Republicans. Unlike Reagan he's already abandoned every principle of his campaign. Cruz isn't promoting conservatism. He isn't fighting against the Washington establishment anymore. He's executing exactly what the establishment wants him to execute...stop Trump at all costs. The fact that the core of his campaign is so easily discarded is telling of his future policies.

You as a Trump supporter don’t believe he will lose in a landslide. But the polling data says he will,

This far out it's meaningless. Reagan was going to lose in a landslide as well. The fact is that Trump fights. He won't back down in the face of attacks. He will counter attack. It should be obvious that Trump will mop the floor with Clinton. She is the weakest candidate possible but she will beat any republican except Trump because they don't care. Their "decorum" is more important then actually winning and if they lose it doesn't really matter because things will essentially stay the same. That's not Trump's mindset.
