Ted Cruz Declares Wisconsin ‘A Turning Point’ In The GOP Campaign

By Sean Sullivan and Philip Rucker April 5

MILWAUKEE — Ted Cruz rolled to a landslide victory Tuesday in Wisconsin’s hotly contested Republican presidential primary, capitalizing on a difficult stretch for Donald Trump to cut into the front-runner’s overall delegate lead and deliver a psychological blow to the billionaire mogul.

Though the senator from Texas is reviled by many party leaders for his explosive and polarizing brand of politics, Cruz won over establishment Republicans as well as grass-roots conservative activists across this state who had come together in an urgent push to stop Trump. Late returns showed him leading Trump by a wide margin.

Cruz hopes his Wisconsin win transforms the trajectory of the race. Wisconsin adds a important Midwestern bellwether to the basket of mostly Southern or rural states he has won to date, giving the Texan evidence that he can appeal beyond ultra-conservative and religious voters.

Savoring his biggest night since winning the kickoff Iowa caucuses in February, Cruz declared before cheering supporters here in Milwaukee: “Tonight is a turning point. It is a rallying cry. It is a call from the hardworking men and women of Wisconsin to the people of America: We have a choice — a real choice.”

Trump remains in a favorable position nationally, but Cruz now has fresh momentum heading into future contests and Tuesday’s results increase the possibility that the nomination battle spills onto the floor of the party’s July convention in Cleveland

I hope you will be around in two weeks when Trump sweeps the North East and Cruz comes in a distant third.

You’re delirious Charles.

On the 19th, Ted will become numerically locked out of the 1237 needed prior to the Convention.

The only path thus becomes subverting the will of the Republican primary and caucus voters.

Must feel good knowing that.

He’s made enemies with the MSM, the GOP establishment, and the donor class. I see your point considering all of those groups support Cruz! Glad Trump made the right enemies.

Tell us that in two weeks when he sweeps the North East.

You think Cruz is going to win those States?

I’m a registered Republican in Chemung County, New York, in the Finger Lakes region...and I’m voting for Cruz on April 19th.

I want a candidate with a proven record as a constitutional conservative, not a loud mouth populist who make a lot of promises but who can’t tell me how he intends to do it.

I want a calm, shrewd, articulate debater who could slice and dice Hillary or Sanders in any debate, instead of a hot head who can’t put together a coherent sentence!

Would I vote for Trump if he gets the nomination?

Hell, yes, but Cruz would be a hell of a better candidate and what I want most is to win in November!

Up until now Cruz hadn’t won one state East of the Mississippi.

Last I checked Maine is East of the Mississippi river.

Cruz will get some delegates in the proportional states, and should win NE, IN, SD, MT and possibly NM. He will also do well in CA.

Here is some math for the Trump supporters: If Trump gets 6 delegates tonight, he will have 746 delegates. That means he needs 491 more delegates to win the nomination out right. But after tonight, there are only 715 bound delegates left. So Trump needs to get 68% of the remaining bound delegates. But Cruz and Kasich only need to combine for a total of 225 bound delegates to keep Trump from clinching the nomination. If Cruz wins NE, MT, SD, and IN, that is 149 delegates. That only leaves 76 delegates they need to pick up out of the remaining 566 delegates to force a contested convention.

Trumps platform: Make America Great Again

Cruz’s platform: Stop Trump

"teddy is so inspirational. I just want to follow him because his platform is just so fulfiling and exciting. It gives me a reason to live"

Said no one ever! :)
