Veterans' charities reportedly receive fraction of money raised by Trump event
Foxnews ^ | 4/8/16

More than two months after Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump claimed to have raised $6 million for veterans' charities at a fundraiser held on the eve of the Iowa caucuses, most of the organizations targeted to receive the money have gotten less than half of that amount.

The Wall Street Journal, citing a survey of the 22 groups listed by Trump's campaign as prospective recipients for the money, reported that 19 organizations had obtained a total of $2.4 million from Trump's foundation or associates.

Of the three other charities, one declined to disclose how much it had received, another said it needed to submit more paperwork before receiving any money, and the third didn't respond to questions by the Journal.

Fox Business Network first reported in late February that only a fraction of the pledged donations had made their way to the veterans groups.

At the time, FBN reported, several groups said they had not received any money. And seven of the 22 told Fox Business Network they had received a total of $650,000. Other groups did not respond to inquiries at the time.

Trump held the Jan. 29 benefit in lieu of attending a GOP debate hosted by Fox News. The real estate mogul had declined to appear at the debate, claiming that he had not been treated fairly by the network.

>>Donald Trump’s highly questionable dealings in which he has been repeatedly accused of fraud, beg for an accounting at minimum .

At MINIMUM.

Plug your nose and take a gander at what's wriggling in this “outsider”/insider rabbit hole:

In many ways Trump is just symptomatic of American culture’s systemic corruption and demoralization.

The bigger question is - how to we reform that so “consultants” like the above are no longer able to occultly attach themselves to OUR government.

You are right. This is actually a good average, far better than many front line charities. Compare this figure with the ten cents on the dollar of the Clinton Global Initiative money that actually gets where it is supposed to go.

Bottom line: Even before all pledges in, Trump has accounted for millions to Vets. Any other candidate that can say that?

The judges are not fools. If the plaintiff complained that the market turned on them those judges would've dismissed the case in a heartbeat but they did not so complain, they alleged misrepresentations.

They did not complain of the market, they complained of fraud done by Trump. Just as condo buyers did (whose silence Trump just bought).

That's right Cloetus,  why should folks waste their time listening to those who would lead/own them debate actual ideas and issues when they can be bleating about who's winning American Idolatry and Dancing with the Perverts on Reality TeeVee - in between commercials for Beer, Erectile Dysfunction, Anti Depressants, Sleeping Pills, and Depends.

And what did dumb Thomas Jefferson know about the process of American government, anyhow...

"

.. that it is time enough for the rightful purposes of civil government, for its officers to interfere when principles break out into overt acts against peace and good order; and finally, that truth is great and will prevail if left to herself, that she is the proper and sufficient antagonist to error, and has nothing to fear from the conflict, unless by human interposition disarmed of her natural weapons, free argument and debate, errors ceasing to be dangerous when it is permitted freely to contradict them. Yes I do give a damn whether the President of the United States of America whose fingers will be figuratively only inches away from the red button is a liar, a cheat, and a grifter.

That’s ok, he is 17 million behind paying the people who are supporting his campaign, too.

FOXMegyn News and the Wall Street Journal at the top levels are, unquestionably, actively invested in taking down TRUMP.

These two entities know exactly where to find unbalanced veterans who are raging Democrats and charities who despise TRUMP, especially charities who did not make the cut.

Donald TRUMP (who was PO’d at FOXMegyn cable news) threw that Rally for fundraising to assist both veterans and military related support groups in less than 24 hours, he received pledges and real money for the cause, and he collected applications from charities for distribution of the money collected.

There were about twelve groups named, I recall, and a team was set up to do the accounting and distribution to those 12 selected.

To play tom foolery is a real waste of time, since the fund collections are tracked at both ends, from the contributors as a tax write off, to the Fundraiser’s matching receipts, to the distribution to the named charities.

TRUMP in a discrepancy would pay it off himself if there existed the slightest proof at the IRS level that something was even a penny off.

Gp blow smoke somewhere else, WSJ and FOXMegyn News. No one cares until the IRS cares.

Call back when you have something greater than whining and timing.

Interesting hit piece disguised as investigative journalism..

It does not state how much of PLEDGED was RECEEVED.

What faction of received donations was distributed 10%, 50%, 90% ??

Is there another way to find out what was distributed than asking individual charitie, come of whom are not supplying information ?

“Why don’t the just ask the Trump charity how much they have dispensed or already have in the pipeline?

Seems a far more logical route.”

I know that you are asking the question rhetorically, and, of course, the answer is that it wouldn’t have gotten the desired result. I think that most charities distribute money over time, there is a vetting process.

The reported numbers beg the question, what happened to the rest of the money?

You really think Trump is stupid enough to personally short change the Vet charity? Did he need the 3 million and that was the only way he could get it?

Good grief Nathan even you can't believe that.

In general I feel if you want charitable donations to really matter then distribute it yourself because I believe all major charities are corrupt to the core.

When Maxwell Taylor retired after WW II he accepted the directorship of the Red Cross at an annual salary of $1,000,000.00. A princely sum considering the salary of President Truman was a measly $25,00.00 a year. At that moment I concluded that I would never donate anything to any major charity. But feel free to support CGI if you feel the need.

No thanks. I won’ shutup, though I know that Trumpers would love to make everyone else shutup, because it is hard to defend Trump.

What’s the UPSIDE!?

Trump mops the floor with Cruz one-on-one and proves himself to be superior! He puts the baby to bed. He closes the deal. He wraps it up. He stops the madness.

THAT’S the “upside!” Good grief. Sometimes men need to man up.

And if he acts now (for a limited time only) he can win the 1,237 needed for the first ballot and seal the deal - What a bargain. (Use offer code “Believe me” when you check out)

Yes, this article is a pure hit job against Trump.

Besides saying in their own story that they couldn’t get info from a number of organizations, they don’t know what is in the works, what is being vetted, what is being proposed OR how many individual veterans have been directly helped.

This is a huge accusation with no substance.

-—It takes time to locate good charities that aren’t front groups taking 30-40% for the officers of the charities.
.
.
.
Especially if whoever you give to at this point, is going to be put under a microscope. I mean, there might be one member of that organization that might have associated with a person, who might have been related to someone who was cousins with someone who worked at Planned Parenthood, and the Cruz bots would just go ballistic and Cruz would have to take to the pulpit again and give several sermons to calm his followers.

It’s only been 2 months. The money will get to where it’s going.

Also, I’m sure they are vetting the process to make sure that no groups want to grab the spotlight and say “he offered us the money but we refused!” I bet there are half a dozen charities waiting to spring that one out on the media.
