Dennis Hastert Molested at Least Four Boys, Prosecutors Say
NY Times ^ | APRIL 8, 2016 | MONICA DAVEY and MITCH SMITH

CHICAGO — Federal prosecutors on Friday for the first time provided details of sexual abuse allegations against J. Dennis Hastert, the former speaker of the House, asserting that he molested at least four boys, as young as 14, when he worked as a high school wrestling coach decades ago.

Mr. Hastert, 74, is not charged with the incidents of abuse because of statutes of limitation, prosecutors said, but he was accused last year of illegally structuring bank withdrawals for money he was paying to one of his victims in an effort to hide the abuse. He pleaded guilty in October to the banking violation, and suffered a stroke in November while awaiting sentencing, now set for later this month.

According to a court filing by prosecutors late Friday laying out their sentencing considerations, Mr. Hastert, a popular coach in a small Illinois town in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, gave one boy a massage in the locker room, then performed an unspecified sex act on him. Another boy, Stephen Reinboldt, who died in 1995, was sexually abused by Mr. Hastert throughout high school in the late 1960s and early 1970s, his sister and others told the prosecutors. And prosecutors said Mr. Hastert had massaged another boy’s groin area after asking the boy to stay in his hotel room during a wrestling camp.

“Defendant used his position of trust as a teacher and coach to touch a child’s genitals and then undress and ask the child for a back massage in a motel room,” the prosecutors wrote of that incident. “There is no ambiguity; defendant sexually abused Individual A.”

Prosecutors said Mr. Hastert’s life had been “marred by stunning hypocrisy.”

Well, dragnet2, that is pretty much the way things work whether you are a ditch digger, a small business entrepreneur, a policeman, a politician, a judge or just a plain old husband or wife, father or mother. All are subject to the consequences of their actions, and all those under their authority can and often do suffer from those consequences. The greater the authority the greater the need to act responsibly, which is a lesson that seemingly needs to be relearned by far too many today, not least of which is all those running for the presidency.

So, what exactly your beef is I don’t understand.

Well then, Mr. Hastert is, in a certain sense, lucky. Now all he will have to live with is his conscience. But that might be the hardest punishment of all.

I’m surprised anyone still thinks there’s a difference between the two parties. Kabuki theater to keep us playing their game.

No, he was not just responsible for his actions. He was in a position where he knowingly was or could have been compromised by blackmail, etc. His actions had the potential of affecting millions.

Was that part of those conservative principles you’re talking about?

Really? Ya think anyone buys your bull sh*t?

Unlike ditch diggers, do those in the Senate and Congress not take an oath? Did you ever read it?

First, whatever Hastert did or did not do has nothing, absolutely nothing, to do with conservative principles.

This is the biggest load of BS I've seen on this forum in the past 24 hours. Congratulations.

Really? Your insulting remarks are taken but rejected. Bo’s executed the largest welfare increase in 50 years by stealing out healthcare industry and not a single republican voted for this crime. Not one. So tell me your story about no difference. Do you honestly think that a 74 year old commie rat is the same as Ted Cruz?

What an intemperate fool you are. If you read what I wrote instead of just going off you would see that we are not really in disagreement.

As far as oaths go, I might know a little more about such things than you think, even though, obviously, you know so very much more than most.

Or do you think that only certain people should be held responsible for their actions and others not? Only oath takers? Yourself excepted, perhaps?

Those with small authority can only hurt a few others. Those with great authority, like Hastert, can, as you say, hurt millions. No argument. I said essentially that. Our biggest problem today is not the Denny Hasterts of this country, but the millions and millions of irresponsible people, from ditch diggers to presidents, who don’t care about those whose lives can be hurt because of their misdeeds. We have bred a culture of irresponsibility.

EVERYONE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS AND THE CONSEQUENCES OF THEM ... EVERYONE!

Yea, they are the same. Just recent history...

TARP
Auto Bailouts
National Debt
Budget
Medicare Part D
No child left behind
Amnesty push
Amnesty-Reagan-
Patriot Act

Just a few...and people still want to be a Republican? Just voting to stop democrats hasn't fixed anything.

First, whatever Hastert did or did not do has nothing, absolutely nothing, to do with conservative principles.

If these charges are in fact true, Mr. Conservative Haster was not only compromising his position, the potential for compromising and undermining American and millions of Americas was very real.

In fact, we don't even know he this guy was blackmailed or if the country was compromised.

Great conservative values ya got there.

Get real.

Well, he could always get a job as the poster boy for NAMBLA, you know, the LGBT homosexual group that supports his kind of activity and seeks to decriminalize it.

[ Nick Bryant spent 7 yrs researching that because what he found was so disturbing. He heard HW Bush liked young black boys. That’s what I read. He also implicated many people in congress and higher ups in the cia leadership. I guess if you wanted to be in a high position in govt you need to prove your loyalty by exposing yourself to blackmail. Even the Rothschild, Hanvoers and Windsors visited Epstein’s pedophile island.

It’s a strange world... ]

A small tactical nuke a few hundred feet over bohemian grove during their annual “cremation of care” ceremony would go a long ways to cleaning out the rats nest in DC.

What I find alarming is the first time in many decades an outsider, someone who speaks out against decades of non-conservative, lying loser leadership, and suddenly all the insiders and Republicans are feigning outrage. All alleging Trump is not conservative enough.

Where have all these conservatives been for 27 years?

Where is all that conservatism we're now suddenly hearing about? Are decades of decline and deceit now considered the foundation of conservative values? This is election year fraud at it's best.

Ah, the GOP establishment personified.

How so? A high school wrestling coach from the middle of Illinois? That's a long way from the Rockefellers and Whitneys.

When I heard that a high school wrestling coach was going to be Speaker of the House, I had an inkling that something like this was possible -- one of the few times I may have got something right in political predictions.

But when I say this headline, I thought "WTF? President Dave Palmer? The Allstate guy? What the heck is going on?"
