Report: Carnival cruises have to ban Cubans from upcoming trips [Imagine if Blacks were banned]

There’s been plenty of anticipation about booking trips to Cuba since travel restrictions eased in the past year. However, a first-person report in the Miami Herald says there are some people living in the U.S. who can’t take part in a Cuba vacation cruise....

[the Carnival representative] asked me to hold. She returned to read me a statement from the legal department: “Current Cuban law prohibits Cuban-born individuals from entering Cuba via ship or other sea vessel, regardless of U.S. citizenship status. For that reason, at the present time, Fathom cannot accommodate Cuban-born individuals.”

Let's pretend that instead of Cubans, that Castro said NO BLACKS could sail to Cuba.

How would that set?

Doesn't matter to Valerie and her young charge. Instead, they love enriching dictators and approve of discrimination--whether it is against Bible believing Christians or Cuban Americans.

Media outcry? None. The Obamacult worship continues.

What a misrepresentation.

It’s not the cruise ship that’s banning them from going to Cuba.

Does it mean they just can’t get off the ship in Cuba?

If the US government really cared about human rights and/or really cared about trade policy, the response would be simple:

“Dear Cuba — if you want ANY opening with the US, then you will immediately change this policy. You will not receive a single US dollar until you do. Have a nice day.”

But, since Obama cannot negotiate a trade deal worth a damn and since Obama only cares about the human rights of Islamic terrorists, no such message will be sent.

I wonder what Paypal and Apple and Hollyweird production companies think of something like this, given their objections to what North Carolina and Mississippi recently signed into law (of all things, protecting women in change rooms and multi stall washrooms)? I wonder if they are still champing at the bit to do business in Cuba?

Let’s pretend the author has half a brain. Blacks come from many countries but all Cubans come from Cuba.

What a misrepresentation. It’s not the cruise ship that’s banning them from going to Cuba.

Suppose a country banned homosexuals. What would happen to a cruise line which continued to do business with them?

They are violating the Florida Civil Rights Act of 1992, the prohibits discrimination based on National origin. Sue them

Cuban law is the culprit here, not the cruise line.

Former Cuban citizens may not return to Cuba by boat, now why is that so?

Does Cuba fear another Bay of Pigs?

“Cuban Law is the Culprit here”

Are you serious? The culprit is Carnival Cruise lines and Fathom Travel for agreeing to this.

They need to own it and not pass this off as an “Oh well, what can I do?”

Let's think this one through. Cruise ships can set any rules they want. Anyone who has been on them knows how heavy-handed it can be. They ALWAYS have restrictions that the port country demands as part of their conditions. Their first priority is keeping it smooth in ports of call.

Cuba doesn't want exiles to be able to return. It's their right. I have the right to choose not to go on a cruise that stops at a port with those restrictions, if that's what I choose. Keeping it real? I don't want to be on a ship where folks who left a country by choice might get frisky about their opinions when we dock there.

Then you've got the situation of if those former Cubans decide to stay on the island and maybe create dissent there, the ship has no way to assure that they return to the ship.

I expect Venezuela will reach the same racial breakdown; as communists chase out their most productive, educated people, they are left with complete dependent types (much easier to corral on the plantation).
