A bear is both an herbivore, and a carnivore.

The intersection between math and science [as subjects] is the empty set. The analogy is inapt.

Ok. I’ll bite the bullet and watch. Tomorrow! It’s too late for that much anger tonight. LOL!

Thanks for letting me know that at least someone in that whole place has a breath of good sense! :)

” Looks like the level headed Alum are begining to have a say with their checkbooks.”

And they hava, as I recall, a significant reduction in new students. I hope Mizzou is just the first of many academic $hitholes to go under.

Ho, boy. Maybe its too early, but I couldn't get past the 45 second mark.

I would not want to go to school there, I would not let my kids go there, I would not want to go near the campus. I am surprised anyone goes there, you obviously will not get an education.

It does - and it will be a deal-killer on resumes of job-seekers...

“It’s NOT the University’s fault!”
You are definitely entitled to have your own opinion of whose responsibility this is. I’m sure there is plenty of blame to go around to parents of these demanding children, primary and secondary school teachers and administrators, etc... But, the President and other administrators at the University had other options for ways to deal with this situation. They chose to capitulate to the demands being made by the students having the tantrum. It is exactly like giving a two year old what they want when they are having a tantrum, it only serves to make them more bold. The BLM people will not go away until the reasonable people put their foot down and stop giving concessions. Until then, expect to see this type of thing increase in occurrence, and the demands ratcheting up.

As, a result of the Universitiy’s decisions, parents and students not willing to be subjected to the craziness decided to leave the university and attend a different one. They exercised their choice to not be a part of it, and took their money with them.

“Most custodial jobs are paid for by the fed government. The jobs works program so whatever it’s called which hires students”

I have never heard of students on the Federal Work-Study program doing custodial jobs. These students usually work in the library or the student rec center, or do low-level office work in an academic department. The custodians are usually full-time employees drawn from the local community. At the local state university, custodians are usually black or Hispanic, but the demographics vary with the surrounding population. The irony is that, at Mizzou, apparently “black’s jobs don’t matter.”

Dozens of people have already lost their jobs. They had nothing to do with this. Neither did the taxpayers,or the people who do business in this area. You’re blaming the victims of another scam!

That’s a first for me. The local state university has about 1200 students on the Federal work-study program and, according to mrs riverdawg, none of them does custodial or similar work. A few work with the grounds crew, planting flowers and trimming shrubs, but only by choice.

Amazingly, this type of work has not been outsourced to a maintenance company, like American business has been doing for almost 35 years.

Math is indeed a science, and it is also the language of science and engineering. Physics and engineering are just applied mathematics.

I’m not blaming those that had no say in how the BLM issue was dealt with. I do blame the University administration for capitulating to the BLM demands, legitimizing and elevating the BLM cause, and ALLOWING other innocent students and professors to be bullied (creating a hostile environment).

What about teaching alphabets and vocabulary? How can you formulate sentences without those? Do we need a department for Alphabets and Vocabulary?

No of course not, a college student should have already mastered the alphabet, and should have a good vocabulary. Entering students should also have basic writing skills.

If it were up to me, every college major would require at the minimum that a student pass at least one calculus course to graduate. Also, we need to get rid of those worthless education degrees.
