If you were going to worship something, you were going to worship Marx and his government.
That said: religion is the realm of stupid people. Look at how many people use religion to justify their Socialist/Communist ideology.

Let me put it this way. One of the reasons I am NOT a Democrat because I am a born-again Christian.
You can be a Christian and a Democrat only in Germany. There, they have a party by both of those names at the same time — Christian Democrats. BTW, they don’t believe in anything (except politics).

Throw stupid, ignorant, moron, wackadoodle and insane into the mix and the answer is yes.
Do your Christian Democrat friends support their party’s platform of abortion on demand?

That was in a TV movie about FDR that I saw some time ago ... multi-part thing. They depicted a scene from the time of his governorship of NY. He was arriving at his ( palatial ) residence when he was accosted by a reporter ( how did that work ... ) who shouted to him, “GOVERNOR WHAT IS YOUR PHILOSOPHY ?” He was momentarily taken aback, but answered directly, “My philosophy? ... Why, I’m a Christian and a Democrat!”
One might raise questions, but nevertheless a memorable depiction ... and I do remember it!

Wow, that’s an interesting trick. Here, the Democrat Party is virulently anti-Christian. In fact, the Party even took steps to expel several politicians who refused to support same-sex “marriage.”
