publican political consultant Karl Rove's super PAC is telling its donors it can help Donald Trump win the presidency, despite Rove's public, anti-Trump stance.
According to Politico, Rove's American Crossroads super PAC had a phone call this week that outlined how Trump could beat Democrat Hillary Clinton if both are nominated to represent their parties on the November ballot.
The call, reports the website, included Rove, officials from his super PAC, and a poll expert.
A source told Politico, "It's not that they support him, only that if he's the guy, we can do something to stop Hillary."
The report also claims Rove's organization can throw a lifeline to Republican senators who think their election bids could be an uphill battle due to Trump's polarizing effect on the party.
Earlier this month, Rove said the Republican party should abandon the presidential aspirations of Trump, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, and Ohio Gov. John Kasich in favor of someone new. Rove has also offered advice to Trump via the media several times.
Last fall, he said the real estate mogul should stop "belittling" his opponents.
In March, Rove wrote a commentary for The Wall Street Journal and said Trump needs to change up his strategy and focus on general election voters, not primary voters.

But privately, the super PAC conceived by Rove is suggesting to its donors that it can help Trump win the White House and save Republican senators whose reelection bids could be jeopardized by having Trump at the top of the ticket.
The apparent warming of the American Crossroads super PAC and its sister groups to Trump has become evident in its recent communications with donors, including a Tuesday afternoon “investor conference call,” according to multiple sources familiar with the outreach.
The phone call — which featured Rove, Crossroads officials and a pollster — laid out swing state polling and electoral map analysis done by the group showing circumstances in which Trump could beat Clinton, the Democratic presidential front-runner, in a general election, according to three sources briefed on the call.
One source, a high-level operative with the Koch brothers’ conservative advocacy network, characterized the conversation as heralding “a softening of the anti-Trump position” within the big-money GOP establishment. The source added of Crossroads’ stance on Trump, “It’s not that they support him, only that if he’s the guy, we can do something to stop Hillary.”

Rove may have some assistance that could be valuable down the line
I've seen Trumps plane. He wouldn't let Rove anywhere near it.
I think what this means is that Rove’s super PAC isn’t getting enough money, because fewer and fewer people are willing to give to it. So he’ll PRETEND to support Trump if he wins, but his real purpose is to raise more money to defeat Trump.
