Why do the Cruz people love just presenting one side of the story? Why not try for complete pictures occasionally? In that book, he actually spent more time criticizing gun control than he did calling for it. In particular, he condemned the Democrats for wanting to take away law-abiding citizens' handguns, which he thought would serve to leave only the criminals armed (he's very tough on crime in the book). He did support a ban on assault weapons at the time, but his overall position on guns was actually quite conservative for a New Yorker (not to even mention that he wrangled a very hard to get concealed carry permit for himself in NYC).
If anyone would bother actually reading The America We Deserve, they would see that it's overall a right-of-center book, and that was the farthest left Trump ever got. Some people want to cherry pick things from it and pretend that it's a leftist tome, when it is certainly not.
