George Clooney denounces ‘obscene’ big money in politics after hosting Hillary fundraiser(T)

George Clooney just made himself the personification of Hollywood hypocrisy by denouncing big money in politics in quick succession after having exacerbated the “problem” he identified. Does the man have self-awareness at all? Has playing fantasy characters in the movies destroyed all hold on reality in his mind? Or is he signaling that he really supports Bernie Sanders and is only running fundraisers for Hillary out of a sense of obligation (or fear?). Was this statement, delivered on today’s Meet the Press the equivalent of US prisoners in North Korea blinking SOS in Morse Code?

Can't-----stop-----laughing. Actors, what DON'T they know? Too bad the pot bangers weren't greater in numbers outside the venue. Front row tickets $343K? I guess there's no fool like a rich fool. Did clooney pay his fair share of taxes for '15? Did he make more than a lot of evil corportate ceo's? I heard katy perry took in around $150 million last year. Fair share katy?

I was on a Yahoo forum a few days ago, where they were bashing a move by the big 3 US airlines. A comment was made about the how executives were OVER compensated and that was going to kill the big 3. I pointed out that the CEO of American made $12.3 million, not even breaking into the top 200 of executive pay. Meanwhile AA was #70 of top revenue companies.

Oh...and that $12.3 million equaled about 26 cents per person flown.

Needless to say, Yahoo users don't like facts.

Point being, the sheep feel that a business exec like Doug Parker, making $12.3 million is excessive, but they fall all over themselves to listen to someone like Clooney, who makes 20-30-40 million A MOVIE, bash someone who actually works.

The real obscenity is the money Hollywood throws at this clown. The Ocean movies have saved him because every other movie is a box office stinker.

If it wasn’t for “big money”, Clinton would have been gone a long time ago. Commie libs are big hypocrites.

Not sure what it will cost this year, but IIRC a trillion or so was what it took to run for POTUS? That is a bit more than $3.00 per American. Not much money at all.

If Clooney thinks that this amount of money is obscene for a fundraiser. Why did he do it, he said that he agreed with the protesters?

Because, ya know, Republicans.

Seriously, he says it is because the conservatives on the Supreme Court allows companies to give campaign cash. His words, from the Meet the Press web site:

—”The Supreme Court can overturn Citizens United and get this obscene, ridiculous amount of money out so I never have to do a fundraiser again,” he said. “And that’s why I’m doing it.”

—”I think the Clinton campaign has not been very good at explaining this and this is the truth: the overwhelming amount of money that we’re raising, and it is a lot but the overwhelming amount of the money that we’re raising, is not going to Hillary to run for President, it’s going to the down ballot ticket.”

—”The Koch brothers would profit if they get their way and that’s what, you know, there’s no profit for us in this.”

So basically he’s saying, “It’s wrong to allow big money in campaigns, but OK for ME to do so, because I’m like noble and stuff. And democrat.”
