“Trump has divided the party,….”

Maybe you should consider more than “party”.There’s more Indys than GOP, so even if a candidate had 90% of the GOP support, he’ll lose. But if you are unable to, at least consider Cruz can’t even again a plurality for Rs !

Trump has Reagan’s platform inside his own.

That’s pretty straight forward. It’s also straight forward to acknowledge that Trump Plans to:

Build a wall to keep other nation’s citizens from walking across our border, and trafficking contraband across our border.

Repatriate illegal aliens to their nation of origin.

End sanctuary cities.

Do away with the Department of Education.

End Common Core.

Reduce deficit spending and pay down the national debt.

Overturn Obamacare.

Implement private sector solutions to replace Obamacare.

These are things Reagan did not address or weren’t reality in his day.

That’s what it means...

If you wanted to be a delegate here and get to the convention you had to pass through the Cruz filter.

The only thing in Colorado that was different in 2016 was that the non-binding straw poll was eliminated. How does someone voting in a non-binding poll make a difference anyway? It’s just a waste of money.

Because if Trump had won the non-binding straw poll (anti-democratic from the start) then there is no way that the GOP could have been able to give ALL of the delegates to Cruz. I also don't think that the GOO did it just to stop Trump, they have these gates places throughout the primary calendar in order to "guide" the herd to the "correct". If political parties are going to continue the will have to be more transparent and the rules have to be set befor the beginning of the primary.

Cruz would make a drum out of the skin of his own mother in order to sound his own praises.

THAT’S what you meant to say?

Good lord man. I’m guessing English isn’t your first language. No problem, but I must correct you.

Donald Trump in no way resembles Ronald Reagan. Reagan was a conservative. Reagan had a philosophy. Reagan wasn’t a proponent of tariffs. Finally, Reagan had a clear record that he ran on, and that was clear by his record as governor. In fact, if Reagan ran today, you Trumpkins would be calling him part of the establishment.

Trump, on the other hand, has a platform only in the loosest definition of the term. He only has what he says he will do, which changes daily, sometimes hourly, only some of which is even remotely conservative. He’s only recently become somewhat conservative (if you actually believe the guy).

This is the primary season, therefore it is quite irrelevant to ‘consider more than the party’. THIS IS party politics.

He’s absolutely right. Cruzer Rush Limbaugh went into this all week.

Don’t suppose you listen to the pro-Cruz Rush Limbaugh all week-—cause he said exactly the same thing. The CO GOP set up the rules in Aug. precisely to stop Trump.

That’s some swell logic there.

The goal SHOULD be to win the general. Period. To do that you must consider Indy’s and possible crossover Dems.

I don’t think they changed the rules in August to SPECIFICALLY stop Trump, but they were changed to prevent outsiders like Trump AND Cruz from winning the state.

Trump has benefited from similar rules in other states, and suffered like he did in Colorado. But if you are looking at it objectively, it’s a mixed bag. In Trump’s case, a great many of these delegates could easily have been his in multiple states, but he has hired the wrong people, and didn’t spend the time, money, and energy required to get the job done.

If nothing else, one should question the man’s leadership and ability to delegate authority on those simple facts.

Is this the first election you’ve paid any attention to?

Let me help you out. It is quite common for politicians to pander to their party’s base during primaries, and to court everyone in the general election.

If you find that illogical, than I certainly apologize for myself and the entire political establishment machine for the last half century.

You don’t say.

Who the F cares about pandering as long as the panderer has a shot in the general. Trump does. And he’s been pretty damn good at pandering.

The delegate system in Colorado has been the same for years, they just did away with the straw poll. And it was not changed because of Trump, but I guess if one thinks the world revolves around oneself, then naturally everything that happens directly relates to that individual

“Actually I see little difference between Trump and Hillary.”

Interesting. Perhaps this will be of interest to you….

I was told yesterday that Trump is a liberal Democrat. My reply:

You are certainly correct about one thing, my naive friend. Trump is one hell of a panderer. He has made his supporters believe that he’s a conservative, he’s pro-life, he’s concerned about illegal immigrants, and that he’s not part of the establishment, despite all evidence to the contrary.

The truth is that he is no conservative, he’s pro-abortion, and he brags about buying politicians, making him very much a part of the establishment and all that is wrong our political system.

Interesting you say he wants to do away with the dept of Ed after he said education is one of the governments top 3 functions.... Trump has taken so many positions on every issue it is impossible to keep track. Except planned parenthood. He has consistently praised them for doing great things.
