I think it will be Scott Walker or Chris Christie. Walker can get Wisconsin for Trump. Christie could ensure NJ.
I could not agree more with your analysis. In one sense I cannot blame Cruz, because after eight years of Obama it seems like it is the Republicans’ election to lose. Hence the very intense competition for the top slot. However, since nothing in politics is guaranteed, Cruz would have been much wiser to have bitten his tongue every once in awhile. At his age, the world was his oyster. Now, things are so polarized that I wonder if he will have another shot at the presidency any time soon.
Oh my Kasich is only 63. He has had a rough life then. He looks much older.

If Trump pulls less than 50% in NY it is over for him. And the expectation here is Trump wins his home state. Just like Cruz won Texas.
Cruz s supposed to come in third tonight. NY is s liberal state and regardless of the ultimate Republican candidate, Hillary will still win NY by 20 points.

Jeff Sessions would be an excellent pick as would Mike Lee. Shore up the conservative base. Kasich brings nothing to the table for Trump. Trump will win Ohio anyway without him and I am sure Kasich will endorse him and campaign in the Buckeye state for him. I think even Cruz will wind up supporting Trump, its politically wise. I think trump would crush Hillary in a 6+ point blowout. The story of the political season is Bernie, his minions will not take losing to Hillary lightly and will stay home in droves. She is about as exciting as dry white toast.
If either of these two get the nomination they are going to have a huge trouble uniting the party and winning in November.

The GOP is not a party; its a club. The members of the club are already united — against us. We will never be allowed into their club. We may eventually unite in the sense of voting for the same ticket, but we’re still going to remain outsiders.
63 is hard on some people, I suppose. OTOH, 3 of my 4 grandparents had already died by that age.

Agree. The hard core Cruz supporters may disagree, but the fault in this relationship failure lies predominantly with Cruz.
Think of a football analogy. The defense you are facing is strong and dug in. You need a bruising fullback to wear them down. That’s Trump. Let Trump pound the defense for 4 or 8 years.
Then you swap the Trump fullback for the Cruz tailback, who exploits the weakened defense for big gains.
You don’t put in the tailback first as he’s not beefy enough to deal with a fresh defense (which the Uniparty is right now). Trump is the person best able to defeat the GOP and Dem establishment, along with their MSM collaborators.
Also Trump is 69, Cruz 45. Cruz could easily wait 8 years, gain experience and stature as VP, and still be a super-young 54.
Cruz has a maturity and patience problem. Me Me Me Now Now Now is what probably has put a permanent crimp in his political future, which is a shame - and was totally avoidable.

Christie is possibly the least popular politician in NJ right now! He would be a cancerous pick.
And the idea that Trump has any chance of carrying NJ is absurd. Maybe if he picked Springsteen it would help, but Bruce might be a little far to the right for Trump.

The interesting thing is that up ‘til now Cruz has been saying exactly that. When asked, he’s consistently replied, “I’ll be the nominee,” “I’ll be the nominee,” “I’ll be the nominee.”
This is the first time he’s answered, “no.” A subtle, but definite change. I think Cruz has been reading poll internals and is beginning to see the handwriting on the wall.
I am from New Jersey. As such, I would much prefer Scott Walker to Christie. Christie is anti-gun, and will cost Trump votes throughout the south and west. Not that these people will vote for Hillary, but they will just stay home. Walker has been through the wringer several times to become and to keep his position as governor. He is a very tough campaigner, is as anti-union as Christy, and will help to solidify the entire Midwest for Trump. He is also more conservative than Christie on a number of issues, which will help Trump to solidify the party’s base. Besides, I think that when Christie endorsed Trump it was with a promise for Christie to become Attorney General. I think it was way too early at that time to be promising anybody the Vice Presidency.
