Besides the three-fifths compromise, the Constitution refers to runaway slaves and to not ending the slave trade before 1808, but with circumlocutions to avoid the word slave, which did not appear in the Constitution until the adoption of the 13th amendment in 1865.

The three-fifths compromise was continuing an arrangement already adopted under the Articles of Confederation.

Without the compromises over slavery, the Southern states would not have ratified the Constitution and it would not have gone into effect.

Wow, when I looked into the Park Ranger pay back in 1979 or so, it was the lowest paying govt. job. I loved backpacking in the Sierras and thought this job was my future until I saw that pay scale.

Looks like I blew it. In the ensuing years, if I had joined, I could have become weaponized, joined a Park Ranger SWAT team, probably never get a driving ticket again and now the pay is great too.

When my step dad was in GS working for the FAA, a GS-12 was near GOD.................a GS-13......................

My dad worked for the FAA as well. He retired GS12. He had a group of about 20 people reporting to him and was responsible for the operation of all the electronic system at a regional airport. Kind of like a tour guide I guess.

This is a disgusting turn of events.

Why does our own government employ people who hate America and will not keep their oaths of office?

You would think that the Park Se vice would have general guidelines on what facts to relate to visitors. if not a complete script for them to follow.

But apparently they let tour guides compose their own narrative full of personal prejudices and intentional misrepresentations, and then allow them to lecture people with their own biased version of history.

This tour guide should be fired along with the supervisors and managers who permit such a disgrace.
