Trump: Transgenders Should 'Use the Bathroom That They Feel Is Appropriate'
CNS News ^ | April 21, 2016 | Susan Jones

Republican Donald Trump says he'd be fine with Caitlyn Jenner using the bathroom of her choice at Trump Tower. (AP File Photo)

(CNSNews.com) - Republican Donald Trump, appearing on Thursday's "Today" show, said transgenders should be allowed to "use the bathroom that they feel is appropriate."

"So if Caitlyn Jenner were to walk into Trump Tower and want to use the bathroom, you would be fine with her using any bathroom she chooses?" host Matt Lauer asked Trump.

"That is correct," Trump said.

Asked for his view on the North Carolina bathroom controversy, Trump said the state has "paid a big price" for requiring transgenders to use the restroom that corresponds with their biological sex.

"Leave it the way it is," he said.

"One of the best answers I heard was from a commentator yesterday, saying 'Leave it the way it is right now.' There have been very few problems. Leave it the way it is. North Carolina, what they're going through with all of the business that's leaving and all of the strife, and that's on both sides -- you leave it the way it is.

"There have been very few complaints the way it is. People go, they use the bathroom that they feel is appropriate. There has been so little trouble. And the problem with what happened in North Carolina is the strife, and the -- the economic punishment that they're taking."

AD FEEDBACK

Trump said he doesn't know if he has any transgender people working for him. "I probably do, I really don't know."

Trump noted that there's a "big move to create new bathrooms" for transgenders.

"First of all, I think that would be discriminatory in a certain way. It would be unbelievably expensive for businesses and for the country. Leave it the way it is."

Much ado over yet another social issue that should be left up to the states to decide.

>>>The only slim hope for a return to sanity is that someday we see a conservative majority reign in the Supreme Court.

Sorry...no. You can't un-ring a bell. Too many bells have ben rung...and this is the latest one. None of these "genies" will EVER be put back into the bottle...not as long as the US remains in its current form.

The only hope we have to return to the way it was is revival...cession...or both.

Thank you for a reasonable post. Transgendered guys have been using women’s bathrooms for decades!! It’s not been a problem.

All you women out there who think you’re going to die if a man is in the bathroom - you’ve already been in the bathroom with a transgender guy and you didn’t die. You didn’t know it and it’s probably happened 50 times.

These guys have no interest in peeking at women or hurting anyone. There have been no problems with it in the past.

Trump said to leave things the way they are. That’s a very reasonable position.

Why try to fix a problem that doesn’t exist? It has only made the situation much much worse - opening the door to perverts.

This bathroom issue began as part of a liberal war on a conservative state legislature in North Carolina. It was a set-up. It was started by a super liberal mayor and her buddy who turns out to be a registered sex offender. They were the ones who wanted bathrooms open to everyone - under the guise of allowing transgendered to have a place to go.

Basically Trump is saying let the market decide, if folks want to boycott NC for it, there’s nothing you can do about it, it’s up to NC to decide in the end if it’s worth it.

[I can’t believe he is so stupid as to say this]

Why? In the same interview he promoted changing the GOP platform on abortion.

THIS is exactly why so many in the conservative grassroots do not support Trump. He doesn’t support the GOP’s conservative platform.

You best get used to Trump saying stuff like this if he is the nominee.

No Theocracy Required super genius — Self-evident Truth will do just fine.

Natural Selection created Sex, the genetic exchange between Male and Female, because it increases the fitness of species.

What perverts like your “discovery”, Lady Gaga have selected for worship isn’t Sex - but themselves and the abomination of Nature.

How’s that typically work out per the historical record, Bat Tard?

Certainly disagree with Donald on this, but it is not a Federal issue.

How do you figure it is not a Federal Issue? I assure you, this will *BECOME* a Federal Issue.

You are right in saying it ought not be a Federal issue, but what ought to be and what is are often not the same thing.

Yes, this *IS* a Federal Issue, and once again, thanks to the 14th amendment.

I agree with Donald and I am 100% consistent. I stated this within the last week.

I AM OK WITH PATIENTS WHO HAVE GENDER DYSPHORIA USING THE BATHROOM OF THE GENDER THEY ARE TRYING TO BE IN ORDER TO TRY AND FEEL NORMAL.

Please have kindness toward these people. Their brain / body dysfunction is real, as is schizophrenia or bipolar. Imagine the hell if you feel exactly like a woman but your body is that of a man. It is not their fault.

They go to get help from medical professionals, and then are PUSHED into trying life as the opposite gender. It’s the ONLY treatment being offered for these poor people. It is not a good treatment because success (feeling good about yourself) has only a 50-50 chance. Many go back to their original gender, or just never feel right. What a horrible disorder, and I am glad I don’t have it.

These people with this disorder will NOT be molesting our daughters or grandmothers. They just need to pee.

WHAT WE MUST FIGHT ARE LAWS ALLOWING ANY MAN INTO THE WOMANS RESTROOM. THAT WILL PUT 100% OF OUR DAUGHTERS AND GRANDMOTHERS INTO DANGER. There are less than .01% of the population with gender dysphoria, and to put our women into dire straits when they are at their most vulnerable in the toilets, is insanity.

There has also been many perverts get the hell beat out of them trying to sneak in a woman’s bathroom, and that ain’t about to change.

Yes, it is. All they have to do is say the magic words: "I'm a trans-sexual" and suddenly, the person restricting their access to the ladies room is subject to the law.

How is it that you guys aren't getting this? In New York City, Di Blasio put an executive order into effect where a person could be fined up to $250,000 for hampering a pervert's access to the public restroom of his choice.

Wake up!

I think the VAST majority don’t want men using women’s bathrooms.

I haven’t seen a poll at all on this

It must be nice living in your theoretical world. Here in the real world, gays can AND ARE getting married in all 50 states. That isn’t going to change. You can spout platitudes all day, but the GOP has by and large abandoned this fight. But please tell me, how in the world you think Oberfell will be overturned or same sex marriage will be outlawed in the future. I don’t want to hear pie in the sky semantics, I want to hear a pragmatic, real world solution.

“Man, considered as a creature, must necessarily be subject to the laws of his Creator, for he is entirely a dependent being. And consequently, as man depends absolutely upon his Maker for everything, it is necessary that he should, in all points, conform to his Maker’s will. This will of his Maker is called the law of nature. This law of nature, being coeval with mankind, and dictated by God himself, is of course superior in obligation to any other. It is binding over all the globe in all countries, and at all times: no human laws are of any validity, if contrary to this; and such of them as are valid derive all their force and all their authority, mediately or immediately, from this original. The doctrines thus delivered we call the revealed or divine law, and they are to be found only in the holy scriptures. These precepts, when revealed, are found upon comparison to be really a part of the original law of nature, as they tend in all their consequences to man’s felicity. Upon these two foundations, the law of nature and the law of revelation, depend all human laws; that is to say, no human laws should be suffered to contradict these.”

— William Blackstone

“When human laws contradict or discountenance the means, which are necessary to preserve the essential rights of any society, they defeat the proper end of all laws, and so become null and void.”

— Alexander Hamilton

I disagree with him 100%.

That said... what’s he going to do? If he answers the question the other way, he’s throwing a softball to the media and allowing them to pummel him non-stop 24/7, painting him as a bigot. This way, he might piss off some of his people on a relatively inconsequential issue but pull the plug on another media attempt to destroy him. I think the big picture matters more, at this point.

That doesn’t refute reality. Gays can get married in all 50 states. Period. Now please explain how that gets repealed. You keep dodging my very specifric request.

Two Supreme Court justices. That's how. It's not like we've never repealed bad decisions before.

You need to put your last paragraph first.

I am not ok with any XY being in an XX facility. I don’t care if they think they’re Santa Claus.

The seattle police would not remove the man from the changing area citing the law saying that he could be there if he wanted. Could they follow him and try to press charges? Maybe, but are there cameras in there to prove what the real women said he did? And what these girls and women saw... can’t be unseen. Regardless of what you think the law might be able to do, the police in this instance refused to remove the man from the woman’s changing area.

[People are going to start wearing Depends when they are out in public for long periods. They will stop using restrooms.

The public restroom will cease to be.]

I know I will never feel comfortable letting my young daughter enter a public restroom by herself now that liberals have insisted on opening them up to any pervert who puts on a dress.
