Trump: Transgenders Should 'Use the Bathroom That They Feel Is Appropriate'

Republican Donald Trump says he'd be fine with Caitlyn Jenner using the bathroom of her choice at Trump Tower. (AP File Photo)

(CNSNews.com) - Republican Donald Trump, appearing on Thursday's "Today" show, said transgenders should be allowed to "use the bathroom that they feel is appropriate."

"So if Caitlyn Jenner were to walk into Trump Tower and want to use the bathroom, you would be fine with her using any bathroom she chooses?" host Matt Lauer asked Trump.

"That is correct," Trump said.

Asked for his view on the North Carolina bathroom controversy, Trump said the state has "paid a big price" for requiring transgenders to use the restroom that corresponds with their biological sex.

"Leave it the way it is," he said.

"One of the best answers I heard was from a commentator yesterday, saying 'Leave it the way it is right now.' There have been very few problems. Leave it the way it is. North Carolina, what they're going through with all of the business that's leaving and all of the strife, and that's on both sides -- you leave it the way it is.

"There have been very few complaints the way it is. People go, they use the bathroom that they feel is appropriate. There has been so little trouble. And the problem with what happened in North Carolina is the strife, and the -- the economic punishment that they're taking."

AD FEEDBACK

Trump said he doesn't know if he has any transgender people working for him. "I probably do, I really don't know."

Trump noted that there's a "big move to create new bathrooms" for transgenders.

"First of all, I think that would be discriminatory in a certain way. It would be unbelievably expensive for businesses and for the country. Leave it the way it is."

“Cruz has a legitimate path. Trump has to over perform by 200% of his average to date in the final states to secure the nomination.”

Delusional. Trump is the ONLY one with a legimate path. Cruz is seen as part and parcel of what is the problem. When the Dems deny Berie, Trump will get even more supporters who are against the system Cruz is playing along with.

Also, there’s the issue of proof. How do you keep the accusations from dissolving into an issue of he said/she said, since bathrooms don’t typically have cameras for obvious reasons.

Seems to me the most common sense answer is to keep men in men’s bathrooms and women in women’s bathrooms, instead of following the it depends on what your definition of “harassment” is down the proverbial rabbit hole.

Because women and their sexual attractions are different than men and their sexual attractions?

In any case, what about the women customers who don’t care so much about lesbians, but do care that men who are attracted to women are using the bathroom with them? Tell them to think of these guys as just lesbians with male junk? Tell them not to accept reality and they will feel better about it?

Public restrooms are already unsafe because the public is unsafe. Are you in favor of hiring more TSA agents to keep public bathrooms safe ?

“The specific example was C Jenner using the women’s room in Trump tower.”

Do you think the MSM is going to ask him about an “uncut male” using the locker room showers with his daughters?

I have lived 61 years without having a transgender bathroom problem affect my life in any way. I’m sure my life will continue to roll on. I’m not concerned about bathrooms. I’m sure God will be able to handle this without any help from you or me.

I have learned not to sweat the small stuff. Bigger fish to fry -much bigger problems to tackle.

Me too, if for no other reason than to shut people up.

A flip flop doesn't shut people up.

BTW...Trump said what he really believes. To walk it back would be dishonest.

You also knew that a man in a woman’s restroom was subject to arrest and trial.

You keep posting trash like this. Don't you know a lie of omission is still a lie? Why don't you put the whole answer, in context? Because it doesn't support your deceptive comment?

Here is what he told the person asking the question: “I would say defending the Constitution is a top priority. And that cuts across the whole spectrum — whether it's defending [the] First Amendment, defending religious liberty. People of New York may well resolve the marriage question differently than the people of Florida or Texas or Ohio. ... That's why we have 50 states — to allow a diversity of views. And so that is a core commitment.”

This is completely consistent with his previous comments on the topic. For example, here is what he said in 2013 on the Tonight Show: “I support marriage between one man and one woman. ... But I also think it’s a question for the states. Some states have made decisions one way on gay marriage. Some states have made decisions the other way. And that’s the great thing about our Constitution, is different states can make different decisions depending on the values of their citizens.”

I know it is hard to comprehend when you support a candidate that has no core principles and is liable to say anything at anytime, but there actually are candidates that are consistent in their support for the Constitution, even when it may not give them the result they want immediately.

You mean a flip-flop? Return to fighting PC? He also wants to raise taxes. Wonder if he will reverse that as well.

See how high Trump holds his fingers in front of his chest, when he speaks. See how close together his wiggling hands are. See the sickening and abominable gestures with his lips. See the extents of his emotional inflections.

Everyone knows it. Everyone has chosen their preferred associations and directions.

Please explain how not wanting women to be forced to use a restroom where men can enter is a purity argument.

BTW, Trump’s a rich guy. He should simply install some “whatever you believe yourself to be” restrooms in his buildings.

Move right past it. Get back to the bigger issues

It is disconcerting to see posters on this forum expressing the view that opposing gay marriage is a lost cause, and that the transgender bathroom issue is a non-starter, a big "ho hum" that only right-wing extremists care about.

There is no "bigger issue" than the defense of the fundamental building block of human society: the natural family. The LGBT movement is the tip of the spear to overturn the Judeo-Christian morality upon which this great country was built.

It is utter hypocrisy to claim to be a conservative yet care nothing that the gaystapo fanatics will stop at nothing until all who oppose them are punished and driven to ruination. That means that your little girl WILL be required to share toilets, changing rooms, and showers with biological males.

“What about letting women who are attracted to women use the woman’s bathroom? “

Bingo. Homo predators hang out in the correct bathroom.

Where this is going to go is eliminating designated community bathrooms and installing a bank of unisex individual water closets. Of course the LBGT crowd wont like it because no one is being forced to accept them. As long as they are still unhappy, I’m good with it.
