We won’t need to worry about a contested convention. It’s all just talk from people desperate to stop Trump. Here’s the math:

Trump: 845 delegates
Today: 118 delegates (Trump is up big in all 5 states)
Total after Today: 963 delegates
California: 172 delegates (Trump is up 20+ in California)
Total after today + California: 1135

That means after today, Trump will need 110 or so delegates out of the 330 from:
Indiana
Nebraska
West Virginia
Oregon
Washington (state)
Montana
New Jersey
New Mexico
South Dakota

It’s extremely unlikely that he won’t get 110 of those 330 delegates. Extremely extremely. NJ itself is 51 delegates and given Trump’s performance in surrounding areas (NY, PA, CT), it’s reasonably safe to assume he’ll win there too.

In short...after tomorrow, it’s over.

The total number of delegates from the five states today is 172. Admittedly, there are 54 uncommitted delegates from PA. Trump should get a share of those regardless of what dirty tricks Cruz tries to pull off. And if Trump wins PA big, there will be lots of pressure on the 54 to come over to the Trump side to reflect the sentiment of the voters.

I voted in CT at 9 AM and was accompanied by 1 other Republican with no other voters coming or going while I was there. There was a disheveled middle aged guy out front with a Bernie sign.

I’ll be watching CNN tonight hoping that if Randy Mandy Carpenter is allowed to be on the panel, we will see some actual tears when he’s eliminated. Go Trump!

I may even give Megyn Kelly’s show a few mins. of my time, just long enough for her to proclaim a Trump sweep.

I’ll be voting in PA in a few hours. I live in the middle of no where though, rural area, so I don’t expect a crowd. I’d be surprised if there was a line.

“The folks working the polls said it is a Republican day so far. 3/4 of the voters were Republicans.”

No enthusiasm for Hillary.

Outstanding analysis. Thanks so much. I think the key is the “Moral” responsibility I hear of the unbound PA delegates to represent the wishes of the voters in their respective districts.
Plus, I praying Indiana is smart enough not to vote for 2 losers whose only hope is to wreak havoc and force extra convention ballots.
Thanks again for such a crystal clear picture!!!

The math is simple, there are 512 of delegates left after today... Trump will be somewhere near 1000 by the end of the night. Of the 512 left he’ll need about 250 roughly to reach the minimum of 1237....

Cruz is fading, and Kasich never was... the actions of Cruz during and since Wisconsin have ensured he will continue to be beating by larger and larger margins with every passing loss. Polls show now that most republican voters view him as an establishment candidate... and that was before his latest publicly announced deal with Kasich.

Cruz’s numbers began to tank nationally during and after Wisconsin when he got full in bed with the establishment in exchange for them handing him a win there... his numbers will continue to drop, and Trump’s will continue to rise.

The alliance with Kasich will kill him even more than the perpetual loses he is suffering will... With every passing state his share of the votes will keep falling.. the exception being SD, NE and MT... and honestly even there he may not win as his support is cratering.

As it becomes more and more evident that Cruz has no path, and that a contested convention would be absolutely devastating, and Cruz continues to act like an establishment politician, the more and more people who may not like Trump, will either stay home or will vote for him just for the sake of preventing a contested convention.

I understand that yes, statistically its not over, but there is no path to recovery for Cruz, at this point he’s just harming himself long term.... I truly believe he may not even win re-election in 2018 with his behavior in this race... Even Texas has a limit to how much embarrassment they’ll endure.

The total number of delegates from the five states today is 172.

***************

But the poster may be saying Trump will get 118 of the 172 available.

Thanks for posting this must-see video. BTW, my comment is currently the most recent one added!!!!
I love the parallels drawn between Reagan and Trump and this video even shows the two of them shaking hands!!!
Today, as a Marylander, I am bursting with pride, patriotism and unbridled enthusiasm that I finally got the chance to vote this morning for President Trump.
It’s high time to make our country great, strong and safe again!!!

The unbound delegates in PA is largely a wash... most will vote their district regardless of who wins, and Trump has done a good job using social media to make sure folks know which delegates in which districts support him..

The unbound delegate thing in PA is a non started..> Trump will win big, and for any Cruz delegate that might get elected in a district that Trump wins, Trump will get one that Cruz might have gotten somewhere else... its a wash.. Trump will get the overwhelming number of delegates in the state.
