Trump adopts Cruz playbook in delegate hunt
MSNBC ^ | April 26, 2016 | By Jane C. Timm

Donald Trump says the electoral delegate allocation is "rigged" and rival "Lyin' Ted" Cruz is trying to steal the election away by wooing supporters.

But in Pennsylvania, where 54 unbound delegates are elected directly by district and free to vote as they wish, Trump is employing the same hunting playbook Cruz has used for weeks. Hate the player, not the game?

Trump insists he can reach that key number - 1237 delegates - by winning the pledged delegates awarded in primaries, but his team is nonetheless on the ground working to sway the unbound delegates his rivals hope to use to derail him. In interviews with eleven of the 41 delegate candidates on the Trump slate, Pennsylvania Republicans running for those 54 spots describe a campaign strategy that's looking more and more like the Cruz game plan every day.

"You do realize don’t you that your argument is EXACTLY the argument that Black Lives Matter / Sanders Supporters / Social Justice Warriors use to fight against white privilege while excusing black racism."

That's pure BS and you know it! Trump supporters WERE SHUT OUT ILLEGALLY in CO. Why don't you want to admit that!

LOL!

When you decide to run for delegate, it is your decision whether to declare whom you support, or run as an unbound delegate.

If you don’t like the person running as an unbound delegate, don’t vote for them.

“Not allowed to know” is nonsense, as it’s the decision of the person running for delegate whether to declare or not.

So, where’s the “scam”?

I think everyone expects Donald to do this and he should.

It’s newsworthy only because Donald threw such a panicked hissy fit because Cruz was playing money ball on him.

I don’t know about the insiders helping Cruz out, because they hate him. Remember? Nothing has changed there as far as I can tell. So all I’ll say is... Maybe, maybe not. I would be more inclined to believe they’re helping Kasich ... and I don’t believe they’re doing that at this point...although, maybe at the convention, they will. I have a feeling they might force Trump to choose Kasick as VP.

But as far as delegate selection system, it has been in place long enough that all candidates should have been working to get supporters to the individual state delegate election, and get their delegate slate elected in this way. This is the grassroots ground game that they all have to utilize just in case they don’t get to 1237 delegates.

I understand that was difficult considering the number of candidates on the ticket.

However...Why didn’t someone inform Trump of the process? I don’t expect him to know...but why wasn’t someone put in charge of the delegate process sooner? I realize he was trying to bust the system, but I doubt it can be done in one fell swoop, unless you can get to a majority and sew it up that way. Just in case, be ready for anything and have your delegates in place.

Trump is courting delegates in PA, CA and possibly VA. He hasn’t won any of these states yet.

“to ask for Donald to ever admit a mistake, a tall order apparently for narcissists”

By the end of tonight, Trump will have spent $30 million or about $35,000 per delegate so far...Cruz and Cruz Super Pacs have spent $122 million or about $220,000 per delegate so far. I am very happy with my candidates use of his and his supporters money.

Maybe there is a lesson here? One for example...don’t just throw another few billion of taxpayers money into NATO just because it’s the easiest path.

Just a question? Has Cruz apologized for his complete wipeout in the SEC primary? Obviously there was a serious misallocation of campaign funds.

The scam was not being allowed to vote for a presidential candidate and playing Russian roulette with delegate choices.

The insiders hate Cruz? What rock are you living under? HE has paired with the Bushes, and Lindsay Graham, GS, etc. He isn’t hated, they are using him - - what part of this don’t you understand? Oh yeah-that’s why the GOPE rigged the delegate system in CO and WY. Such a pathetic, low information voter are you.

I am glad Trump is paying attention to the delegates as well as the vote. Yesterday it was stated here, more than once, that Cruz operatives were misleading voters with delegates...I.e., subbing in the names of Cruz delegates for Trump delegates on the slate...

So Trump is smart to counteract that ploy.

Cruz "won" Colorado but has paid a price for wining it.

Guys like Cruz are inductive thinkers. They are so obsessed with the ideological front end, the actual result is an afterthought.— Bill Mitchell (REAL) (@mitchellvii) March 21, 2016

GOOD FOR YOU! Trump has exposed the system.

We were late, but we learned it, and you pushed back.

We have been found with our pants down around our ankles trying to run in a rigged race, but not anymore. These are die hard LOCAL activists that run the precincts, caucuses and county conventions and we’ve given them the run of the place.

So glad you showed up and were armed up with the info’ to know what the heck was happening. Good job.

It should not be necessary to play games after the state has picked their nominee by popular demand. The contenders can take their allocated delegates and move the hell on.

It was Cruz who was dissatisfied with the state primary results and his allocated proportion of delegates.

The creep had to circle back into those finished states and plot a contested convention, take away (steal) TRUMP earned delegates, and convince these rubes that a convention is democracy and the popular primary vote is just oatmeal.

It stinks. It should not be defended. The pitchfork crowd is going to have company, in the future, after running their local Republican tribal business for years.

Certainly, a TRUMP presidency should work for a much more democractic delegate system, where delegates can be loyal to their candidate without being rejected and replaced with an opponent’s delegate. That is BS.
